I think radio is just a promotion tool to get to an audience that doesn't know Van Halen. Specifically the younger generation. IMO, The Trouble With Never sounds more like Dave solo than VH. In particular the background vocal harmonies during the chorus come across as somewhat cheesy (oooooohhhh, aaaahhhhhhh). I agree that You and Your Blues would be the best choice because Dave does an awesome job on that track of singing; not just being a vocalist. It has a dark feel to it and sounds fresh. I think it would serve them well. She's the Woman is not bad but they need to pick the next single very carefully because in most cases if the second single doesn't take off they usually don't put too much behind a third. Case in point would be Stand Up from Skyscraper. Had they picked Damn Good as the 2nd single instead of the 3rd single, Damn Good probably would have been a big hit whereas it went largely unnoticed. When Van Chalen III's Fire in the Hole didn't take off i don't believe they bothered with a 3rd single. It is a slippery slope indeed.

I think those background vocals on TTWN are about the closest thing the album has to classic VH background vocals with MA. I love that part of the song.

I love outta space and beats workin probably my two favorite songs on the cd, but I'd have went with you and your blues or blood and fire for the next single and tried to do a video that mixed old video and concert clips along with new ones of the band jamming to try to bring the past and now together. Just my two cents, but I love the cd. Everynow and then I can turn it up and forget about my problems being a parent, and be that stupid 16 year old kid again. Thank You VH!

            You god damn idiot!
Idiot..? Really FuckFish..? Maybe you should try reading and comprehension before you go off flappin your fuckin mangina lips in the breeze...

I prefaced the question with "In the digital age"... meaning every song on the damn album is available for purchase as a "single". Other than release to radio stations for hope of rotation... the term single was most associated with 45's which people used to buy. While sometimes available in physical packaging most people don't buy CD singles anymore... maybe it should be called "radio distribution" today rather than a "Single Release". That was my point...

Feel free to follow-up and I'll provide you with more schoolin... Shit for brains.

My issue is not the quality of the vocals. As DLR Bridge pointed out, Wolf does a great job doing what Mike did. It is the presentation of the vocals within that particular song that kind of gets on my nerves. I am obviously picking out one small portion of the album that i don't care for but otherwise i couldn't be happier.

Definitely. The backing vocals on that song sound great.

Any casual fan that I talk to feels that tattoo is dull, so I'd love the next single to be one of the more rocking songs - bullethead, china town or as is...

                      Zah, quit pickin' on Top40fish.

My vote is "As Is". I like the heaviness of that song.

As Is has no hook, and barely a chorus. It's a kickass song, and one of my favorites, but it's not single material. You are wrong again, Von Halen!

Well if "She's The Woman" is the next single, then the video better have a lot of half-naked chicks.

I'm really trying to be kind... especially after he proclaimed his man love for MA in post #32. Clearly having an emotional moment...

Isn't it funny (or pathetic) how VH Fans start to argue over what the next fucking single will be?

Who really cares? We've bought the album; each song takes it's rightful place in our head and each day a new song gets stuck in our brain playback.

Stay Frosty is still my fave and Beats Workin still sounds like a "Spinal Tap" outtake. But that's my opinion.

After "Tattoo" any one song, that get's the heart beating will do the trick. "She's The Woman" is a good choice, for that funky vibe.

Who can resist that? ChinaTown might scare the bozo audience away.
