Has this guy seen himself? It just hammers home how singular DLR is. That was like seeing a grown man at a comic convention in a Wolverine costume. The yellow one.
That seemed more disrespectful than a pure comedy act mocking 80's Dave.
The band was good, but the singers voice didnt resemble Dave's at all. That's even fine, but does tribute haveta be "what we think is a spot-on impersonation of the band"? Just playing the music would be fine with me.Comment

Just saying that perhaps the well is dry? It's okay, a lot of people sharing that well. Peter Frampton for one...and his hits were even before Malmsteens.
I know you dig him E. And I thinkhe is a fucking wizard on the guitar. He just isn't a guy that can write a song that will chart top #40 or appeal to mainstream fans. It kinda sucks cause if he did like 1-2 hit-worthy tunes for every record, a lot more people would be exposed to just how good he is.“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”Comment

I miss when Saenz was in Atomic Punks. Dude was absolutely uncanny...That's why I like Steel Panther, he still reps his DLR roots.Comment

Ygor Fatsteen never wrote any hit songs. He did co-write some radio friendlier stuff when he had Joe Lynn Turner as his hired vocal slave.
But he is incapable of writing something like that on his own.
I would say Vai is much less the one-trick-pony that Ygor is, but he still bores me to death.Comment

I've seen a couple of different VH tribute bands here on Long Island. Started several years ago - didn't mind them at all. Figured it was a night out drinking, dancing, and singing to my favorite music. The band we used to see was called Completely Unchained. The "Dave" had long blond hair, but other than that, he didn't try to be Dave. He actually had nipple rings, which bothered me a bit, but the music was good. Until they made a bad mistake....I planned my 40th birthday around going to see them with a bunch of friends and family after drinking and partying all day in Port Jeff. We had seen them a couple of times before and had fun. That night, about halfway through the set, the singer said the bass player wanted to sing one song. He sang a Spammy song..don't remember which one. I lost it! This was my birthday bash, and I had been drinking all day. I was screaming obscenities and giving the guy the finger til one of my friends escorted me off to the bar. Killed my night - couldn't recover. I was so pissed cause they advertise themselves as a classic VH tribute band. Then we tried a different one in the area called Bottoms Up. They were just embarrassing. They all wore wigs - bad ones. The lead singer was fat, but didn't seem to know it, so he kept doing Dave moves - just wrong! Never saw them again. Considering returning to the original one we saw, since I heard they've added some new ADKOT tracks. For me it's a fun night (as long as they stay away from Van Hagar) and it's alot cheapter than seeing the real thing. I just don't try to pretend I'm seeing Dave, and I can have fun with it.Stay Frosty!
THE DAY IS DONZO LET'S HAVE SOME FUNZO!!Comment
