"Let's see...DAVE isn't 27 anymore....check. Dave can't move like he used to ...check. Dave doesn't hit the notes like he used to....check. Are you applying the same criteria too every show by middle age rockstars? Can Springsteen hit the notes he did 10 years ago? Sting? Answer? NO....they can not. Dave kicks it every night....maybe you're missing the Van Haggis sing alongs from the 90's? Go see Spammy Haggis' band Chicken***....maybe you'll be kinder to that ageing huckster instead. I'll bet you are....and don't forget to try the corndogs at the State Fair where they'll be playing."

A lot of music critics are just fucking seagulls... they fly in, make a lot of noise, crap all over the place and then fly off...

Luckily there are some stellar ones like Greeneyed Murderer who do the trade justice!!

They're called the "drive by media" in some circles.

I wonder if Dave has ever seen or heard his performance to see how he sounds so that he can adjust as necessary.

I think that most music reviews say more about the reviewer than the reviewed. I refuse to take any of these guys seriously.
Like playing bass in a rock band, it's usually a position you get demoted to. Why should anyone give a fuck about some failed writer's opinion.

I wipe my ass with this fucking review!!!! Dave is kicking ass on this tour!! i went all the way from Venezuela to see them perform in Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa. I was there.....The band was on fire!! and Dave was fantastic!!

This clown says "At one point, he condescendingly and lamely paid tribute to Van Halen’s Latin fans by mimicking styles of Latin dance and culture" ....That was actually one of the best parts of the show, nobody expected that! not even the rest of the band! They were having fun on stage and people loved that.

The Tampa show was the best of all. Fuck this asshole, stay away from the cabo wabo....

Ive never seen a review start with criticism of Daves diminished ability to kick and leap. Richard. Tells you something about this bozo. Who else is Dave but Dave?

Dave does need to stop trying to sing so high. Are the Van Halens afraid to bring it up? (I truly believe they appreciate him, though) Is it physical? Does the Diamond need a coach for a while? Is he having a problem hearing himself? Is he trying to impress? Fuck that. He wrote those great vocal parts and his voice is his voice, and its a really cool voice.

If Dave indeed is having trouble being consistant with his vocals, why doesn't he just hire a vocal coach ? Pride ?

We all know Dave has never gotten any props for his vocal ability ever, but it's his charasmatic voice that makes Classic Van Halen just magic.

I'm not saying he needs one, but realistically, it could assist him with breath control, tone, anything to ease the pressure a bit.

I read somewhere where Elvis Presley said himself, "your voice is just like muscle. It can be overworked".

He's been having trouble with his midrange vocals since the 1990s...

What gets me though is his voice was fine the entire '07-08 tour...

Dave needs a vocal coach or a medical specialist, or both...

It's not really fair to write a review if you already have a chip on your shoulder about a guy. While Dave isn't perfect and has had some cringe-worthy tunes on this tour, he is FAR from what this review makes him out to be.

I would probably write a bad review if I saw Lady Gaga live and it wouldn't really be a fair assessment to her fans.

That could be what changed it. Maybe he got a vocal coach and it fucked some stuff up. Hetfield did that & it changed him for the worse. Tiger Woods got a new swing coach & look what happened to him. You don't mess with something working fine. This is why I will never get a masturbation coach.

I disagree, E. Maybe the passage of time has clouded your recollection, but there were vocal issues in '07 or '08.

But, Eddie was having issues as well so the criticisms were more widely spread. Eddie had good nights and bad nights.

But in 2012 the rest of the band is KILLING it, and the critical spotlight is squarely on Dave as the possible only weak link in the chain.

I hope it comes together.
