      Here's one more goody...

GW- Dave's guitar playing often gets overlooked. He's really good at fingerpicked, country-style blues like he plays on the intro to "Stay Frosty."

Ed- Yes! He is great. He played guitar on that song up until the band came in, and then I took over on acoustic. He played that on a nylon-string flamenco guitar. It's an interesting sound. But he can really fingerpick! Even on our first album, a lot of people thought that I played the intro to "Ice Cream Man" but that was Dave.

      Way to give props Ed!

I do think right now Eddie & Dave are getting along great. But I still don't trust that Eddie Van Halen when it comes to getting along for any length with a singer for HIS band. So I understand being wary of any comment or backhanded compliment he slips out the side of his mouth. I am with the majority, throwing caution to the wind and rolling with the current Van Halen balls deep. The cd has not left my truck radio since the day it was released and I'm here every single day reading every word, looking at every pic, reading every review, and watching every video with glee. But in the back of my mind, when/if that steak is ripped away from me I won't be all the surprised. Just trying to eat as much of it as possible while it's in my face. (hmm...that should be my new pickup line?)

Past performance is the best indicator of future results.

          EVH history

          1985 - fired DLR
          1996 - fired SH
          1996 - fired DLR
          1999 - fired GC
          2000 - fired DLR
          2004 - fired SH

He also fired, hired, fired & then erased MA. Fucking tried to erase the dude! You don't go against the family.

*I wonder if Eddie still calls Sammy every now & then just to tell him he's still fired?

I still say they need to throw an acoustic mini-set into the middle of this show somewhere. After the whole "Downtown Sessions" thing, I thought it might actually happen on the road.

STP did that years ago on the "Songs from the Vatican Giftshop" tour and it was awesome...didn't bring the set down at all...VH should do something like that, they could totally pull it off.

Only problem is I can see all the reviews now saying how the crowd was all pumped and then suddenly deflated by an acoustic break. Although I would love it. I saw Heart in the early 90's and the basically opened for themselves. They did a full acoustic set - 45 minute intermission - full hard rock set. Was fucking terrific.

The OTHER "STP", duh... y'know, one of the few bands from the 90s that DIDN'T suck - singer had some drug issues, went to jail for a bit before doing a stint replacing Axhole Rose in GnR's other band...those guys.

When they did it, a completely separate stage was lowered from the rigging, with stools, a smaller drum kit and an EZ chair for Weiland...crowd went nuts just for the stage lowering...like I said, didn't cause an ebb in the show AT ALL...it could be done.

Now you've gone and spoiled the BIG surprise we're all waiting for next year. It would certainly keep the stage production expenses to a minimum.

Then the reviewers can all complain how everything sounds like ICM and Stay Frosty. "Yes, Dave was in great voice, but Wolfie's bass is redundant"
