Back on to the topic of re-recordings... I actually bought the Twisted Sister album "Still Hungry" which is essentially a re-recording of the "Stay Hungry" album with a few extra tunes and it definitely sounds more raw and basic. The guitars are more up front and ballsy and it sounds pretty good.
How would you feel if VH re-recorded CVH tunes?

Re-recording old, previously officially unreleased demos is one thing.
Why re-record stuff that has already been put out?
It's not like the current Van Halen band is gonna equal or better the original tracks, so why bother?Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

I am ok with Def Leppard doing it for the reason they did. Their record company was trying to give them little to nothing to distribute their stuff digitally, so they refused to let them do it. Good for them."Don't want 'em to get you goat, don't show 'em where it's hid." - David Lee RothComment

I think this is a terrible idea if the intent is to outdo what they did in the classic years, and as others have said, completely pointless. I can understand re-mixing and playing around with existing material to get a better sound (like Let It Be Naked) but to actually go in the studio and lay down any of the classic tracks again as if you're making a new record...please no.Comment
