Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!! -
Lol. The problem now is I think that concerts have become the new company picnic. And also events that friends go to see together but don't really care about. That way you can't start at 22 cause people have families at home and work to go to the next day. I am convinced that the average person at a concert couldn't care less if it's Dave or Hagar that's singing. As long as the show is in the second week of may when the company has planned the party, who cares who plays. But it's good if it's a legendary band like Rolling Stones or Bruce Springsteen.
And what up with the military time?Comment

Yeah, but the point is if the average person doesn't care, is in it for something else then Van Halen then they can't start the concert that late cause only true rockers will buy tickets. And there aren't many of those these days. The heart is on the left. The blood is red.Comment

Now it's: take it up the tailpipe ordering tix online, spend a kings ransom on beer at the pub an hour before the show, wear earplugs, and watch fat Americans shove their face full of toxic nachos and talk on their cell phones.Last edited by Zing!; 04-04-2013, 02:47 PM.My karma just ran over your dogma.Comment

God, imagine going to a concert back when people cared.
How many people do I know who saw Bruce with the company. "Give us 17 tickets, everybody is going". How many of those people care about the artist??? Most often they say that they are going cause it's good to be able to say that you have seen a legendary band and to meet up with friends. Maybe 3% of the people at a concert are passionate.
It has to do with rock being householderized (I made up that word). Back when it was dirty and tabu (like when they put warning lables on the records) who would have gone to see a show like that with their co-workers? Nobody. The heart is on the left. The blood is red.Comment

Sadly, this is about right. Concert mentality is just not the same anymore - at least for big name classic rock acts. It used to be an EVENT that lasted days, with sex, drugs, and rock and roll being the order of the day. Tickets were bought in person and you stood in line at the mall for hours, sometimes freezing your ass off or about to have heat stroke until Sears opened. Then the anticipation of waiting weeks on end, followed by an all day party the day of the show. Your ears would ring for a week and your voice would be hoarse for days and your tour t-shirt reeked of pot for years to come.
Now it's: take it up the tailpipe ordering tix online, spend a kings ransom on beer at the pub an hour before the show, wear earplugs, and watch fat Americans shove their face full of toxic nachos and talk on their cell phones.
What you said was definetly true about the top sections of Jones Beach Theatre when I saw Crue and KISS last September. Too many people sitting down, random people telling other people that are standing and having a good fucking time to sit down and shut up (that's ANOTHER story), too many people wearing earplugs and not even bothering to CLAP when the band finishes a song for chrissakes!
Meanwhile, the floor seats where a completley different ball game compared to how fucking boring the upper sections were .There was a fucking PARTY down there! People dancing, screaming their heads off and having a good fucking time LIKE THEY SHOULD.How do you spell pretentious? S-A-M-M-Y H-A-G-A-RComment

Fraroc, if that's you in your avatar, I'd pay an extra $100 on top of my ticket to see you lay out some Jersey shore Hagar fans.Comment

That's EXACTLY what I'm trying to say, you just put it a lot better then I.The heart is on the left. The blood is red.Comment

I had a better time in the nosebleed seats on the '07 tour because that's where all the real VH fans were - many of them now with their own kids. All the front seats are almost always bought up by corporate types here in MN (I got comped my stage-left seats by a cool usher for the 2012 show) and you can spot the yuppie corporates a mile away. It's like they don't know how to act at a rock concert. If you've seen the Henry Rollins bit on this you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. My karma just ran over your dogma.Comment

Sadly no, that aint' me. But I can still stand my ground even though I would never beat the shit out of someone (I have the strength but not the killer instinct). And let me tell you something, I know enough about those Jersey Shore "swag" obsessed cockholes to confirm that they are nothing more than pretentious pussies that act like they're cooler than everyone because they are incredibly insecure about themselves. How do you spell pretentious?
