Spammy and Ed aren't talking to each other

The following was posted to alt.music.van-halen

    --------------

I was lisetning to the local classic rock station over the weekend and on came an interview with some rock reporter. She was talking about the summer rock tours and up came Van Halen's name. She claims the tour hasn't been living up to expectations as far as ticket sales.

Anyway then she goes on and says Eddie and Sammy aren't even talking at the moment in private and the tour is strictly a business affair. Supposedly the slumping sales have helped create the riff. She also said Ed put a cap on interviews fearing the Roth-Hagar debate would begin and the tour would lose focus. This supposedly pissed off Sammy because it means all the attention is on Ed and he can't talk about himself. Also Ed was said to have snubbed Neal Schon, a friend of Sammys and not letting his band open for them. Soul Circus I think it was. But all I've ever heard was that Silvertide was the opener.

She said there are two different camps in Van Halen today, with Ed and Al on one side and Mike and Sammy on the other.

Take it for what it's worth, as I think shes full of shit. I've read lots of interviews in the papers where Sammy and Ed talk about the tour. And from what Ive read, the arenas are packed and the band has been blowing people away. And why would Sammy get mad over neal Schon? I bet Sammy is happy as fuck just to be there and is kissing ed's ass.

"from what I've read, the arenas are packed and the band has been blowing people away"

The arenas aren't packed mate. There half fucking empty! Check out the tour threads in this forum for more detail on the numbers.

Furthermore, most of the media reviews have been highly negative about the standard of the band's performances so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie and Sammy are not talking. I bet Alex talked Eddie into doing this for the dollars. IMO, they felt they couldn't accept Dave's terms so they got desperate.

There is a lot of speculation that this is a one shot deal and I think it probably is.

    Thanks for info.

Its only a matter of time before they stop talking, if not already. If
the tour is only averaging just over 7000, it wont be Ed's fault, will it ! :D
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
      Love ya Mary Frances!

More Sammy propaganda dude. The tour is tanking.

Most interviews being posted in the papers of each city they

play in are the same interview they did at the start of

the tour. The local papers just wait until the band is about

to hit town before they run it.

Imagine a conversation between those two.....Spam pissed that Dave is so much cooler than he, and Ed pissing his pants in a drunken stupor! We've known for years that Van Hagar sucks ASS, its nice to see that MAYBE the lying Dutchmen are finally starting to get the picture.

Yes - it's hard to believe it isn't a one-shot deal because why would Eddie fire Sammy for bad lyrics and work ethic - then accept both of those in heaping quanity for the three new tracks?

The only answer is he is milking the last few dollars out of Van Hager before retiring to the State of Alcoholism.

I almost have to give it up for the Red Cheesehead...He has the bros. over a barrel...for him it's a win , win situation...He gets a gauranteed salary to play half full arena's, gets to play with his buddy Mike and gets to use VH as a promotional tool for his own career which will resume after this tour ...That Hagar greatest hits collection coming out in the fall has to really burn the brothers up bigtime... Sammy sucks but after getting burned by the lying Dutchmen the first time it's actually kind of funny...Sammy is an opportunist and is taking full advantage..I bet he even thinks Ed sucks and is playing like shit....

The bottom line is that it is inevitable that there would be a rift between Ed and any singer on the tour. Dave said it best in one of his more recent interviews, "Ed hasn't enjoyed a moment of his own success." Herein lies the tragedy of this summer's tour. Ed's self-destructive personality prohibits him from making a truly great business decision by touring with Dave. And in the process, he hurts himself and the fans.

This is a one-off. If it weren't, this wouldn't be a quick cash-grab tour with three new songs.

The fans are being ripped off now more than ever. And to think they have the nerve to claim they weren't getting Dave back in '96 because they didn't want to rip off the fans!!

he should be happy with this lineup and tour then...being that it's not successful!

A reviewr says just that in the Chicago sun times today.

I din't post it because there is one(1) sentence in which he

compliments the show, but he pretty much trashes

i believe it, just watchin the show in massachusetts, ed was not really into it, sammy and mike had fun but you could feel something missing (obviously dave) in the chemistry between singer and guitarist. eddie seemed happiest when his daughter came out and gave him a big fat kiss on the lips. that really freaked me out.
