Well that just pisses me off. Reading comprehension isn't my strongest point, but... VH cannot book gigs through Live Nation because of who their manager is? What the shit? Can they drop him? I'm thinking Dave was right in his assessment of Irving.

On the topic of Azoff, I'm pretty sure the non-compete clause had to do with going after Live Nation's existing acts or acts in negotiations, not non-compete in the sense of for two years Azoff can't book shows for his acts. It's all speculation on the link between the non-compete and Van Halen's limited touring dates, until we see the actual contract, if possible.

At least in the tech arena in California, non-competes haven't held up well in court, and they generally simply limit the ex-employee from working on materially similar solutions/products and direct competitors of the ex-employer. When I left Microsoft, they didn't want me giving a bunch of intel to Oracle, HP, and IBM about our work in the automotive industry (Ford Sync, etc), but I'm free to whore myself out now.

Yeah they were pretty good, Shambala is a great tune. I recall an interview with AVH where he cited their drummer Floyd Sneed as an influence.

Back to topic. If Irving Azoff still manages Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, then the speculation mentioned here doesn't make sense, since both those acts are currently touring the usual venues. But it would be cool if they ditched him regardless, maybe get someone else who will motivate them to cash in on their legacy by releasing as much material as possible, old and new. As well as touring more frequently before any more time is wasted. Doc McGee would be an ideal manager.
