You're right Ash. Covers are essential to get gigs in many places and they are fun as hell to play. My old band ended up doing 50% original, 50% covers for three sets a night. That was cool being able to mix it all up with no complaints.

He and Elton John had the same problem.... both of them did some great stuff early on, but as soon as UNI records went under, both of them turned into elevator music acts.......
Still have this single and a few others from that era around here somewhere.....

yeah! love it when people cheer your originals. we were at macca's post gig recently with another band. guy asks our singer, 'you do mostly covers?'
singer says, 'yeah, we like to play lots of gigs'. the trick is to make 'em your own. =CVH= had that in spades.Comment

He's fairly popular in So Cal. Then again he's probably performed here hundreds of times more than Dave. He used to come on local FM radio quite often out here to promote one thing or the other. Dave rarely ever did that. He prefered going on Howard Stern. Stern's not as popular here as he is on the east coast. Howard's number one fan is Howard. But he has a crew of bootlickers to make him feel better just in case someone else doesn't worship the ground he walks on.Beware of DogComment

You sound like a 13 year old who thinks they're an adult sometimes. I'm surprised you don't say everyone you don't like are retarded. There are plenty of gay artists out there who are great musicians. Elton, Rob Halford, David Bowie. We even have our own gay artist, JHale. He's not a great musician but he tries hard.
Usurping the traditional term GAY to take the homosexual meaning out and leaving in the lame. That's so gay it's G-H-E-Y!

I could see solo DLR doing a decent version of Spooky by the Classics IV. Only problem is, just like his Baker Street, there stands a chance that it could end up sounding too much like the original, only a touch heavier.Comment
