Your right the melody is the same ,am referring to the chords at the into of bobw, I don't know the tune that well but if you play the chords it ends up into high way to hell ..... Or it does when I play it .
Thankfully :D
Just checked it on you tube they are similar , or what I could tolerate was .
They should release the Van Hagar albums as instrumentals so normal people with ears and stuff can listen to them
Well, 5150 and Othisblowsgoats2 would still have synth drums, way too many keyboards and shitty production, but FUCK and Balance would actually be fairly listenable without Hagar.

Much of 1984 sounds like recycled MC5 and Stooges riffs.
Interesting Kristy - I haven't listened to either of those bands for a while, and I was more of an MC5 than a Stooges fan, so couldn't say I have heard everything the original Stooges did. I hear more swing to the riffs of 1984 than I hear in the Stooges and (maybe less so) the MC5.
But then again, songs like the MC5's "High School" (from Back in the USA) is not far from the kind of thing Van Halen did quite a lot - e.g., in something like "Panama", which is a kind of marriage of bubblegum Top 40 and hard rock. But I think a lot of that is the vocal thing.
I can hear a girl group, like one of those 60s groups, singing "Panama" with a bit of a higher tempo ... like The Crystals (Da Doo Ron Ron)
I thought Jimmy Page was the only riff stealer in rock and roll. It's only a coincidence Barracuda and Achilles Last Stand sound like the same song with different lyrics. Rappers steal everything for their "music". I heard a "song" yesterday called "The Man". it was a blatant rip off of Elton's "Your Song".
Achilles came out in '76. 'Cuda in '77. Pagey has just been aquitted.
I second the motion. It was Heart doing the plagarizing on that one. I did read where Jimmy Page denied hearing Jeff Beck covering a Willie Dixon song before Zep did the same song but John Paul Jones played on the Beck version and Peter Grant admitted he gave Page an advance copy of Beck's album before Zep recorded the song. It was You Shook Me. I forgot which song it was so I had to look it up again. Beck's version came out 9 months before Zep's did.
