Well.... aside from the original post being empty (which I'm assuming was a botched attempt at a file attachment, or whatever) I'm not sure what the problem is.

Not really. Before the last tour ended and they went into limbo again most of the people here wouldn't even admit Dave was looking like the crypt keeper before he realized he wasn't fooling anyone that he wasn't going bald. When I saw the Sam and Dave show at Glen Hellen I wasn't impressed with his performance at all. The people I went with all assumed it was over for Dave career wise after that tour but another friend that saw the same show said Dave was on top of his game and proved he was the better man in VH that night. Talent on the guitar or on the mike is a matter of opinion, you can't measure it with a stop watch or a measuring tape.

        Apples & oranges, C-dog.

You can't make a statement on whether or not Ed is overrated, based on what Dave sounded like on one tour vs another.

You could however compare Ed to himself, just as you compared Dave to himself. i.e. "Ed sounded great on the VDIII tour (despite having the wrong singer), but he really sounded like warmed over dead shit on Velveetapalooza 2004. Thank God he came back to his old self on the last two tours".

        Just for example......

He didn't completely come back to his old self on the Reunion tour. He played like shit on the 2007 leg, it wasn't until 2008 when I noticed real improvement.

On the Different Kind Of Truth tour, Eddie was back 100000%. Dave was on and off but Eddie was full-on AWESOME on that tour. Dave didn't start to come back until the 2013 hit n' run leg.

Right, check this here..do you have a better topic post it! No one is forcing you to read it or comment!

Anyway I think that was the first time I've ever heard someone say Eddie Van Halen was overrated?! What if there was never a Van Halen? Their first album changed Rock far as I'm concerned! And all you have to do is watch Metal Mania and see all the copy cats that came after Eddie/Van Halen and you'll easily see the impact they made!

This sure ain't the first time I've heard people say Eddie is overrated. Hardcore Randy Rhoads fans say that EVH was overrated, so do hardcore Vai fans, hardcore Satriani fans, DEFINITLEY hardcore Vinnie Vincent fans. They all don't give EVH his due.

Believe it or not, there are a group of people that think that Vinnie Vincent is the best thing since sliced bread and they think he's just as good as Randy Rhoads and that Eddie Van Halen isn't worth shit compared to him. And they only like the Creatures and Lick It Up era of KISS.

To give Vinnie credit, he was a good songwriter, but his solos on the Vinnie Vincent Invasion album were A. Fucking. Mess.

Eddie Van Halen's a decent guitarist but he's no Roy Clark.

Roy Clark was a damn good "country picker" type of guitarist, but to say he's better than Eddie Van Halen.....

I mean if you ask the average person on the street who Roy Clark was, they're going to say "Hee Haw".

He was known more for a silly redneck comedy show than he was his actual musical ability. That would be like Eddie only being known for Van Hagar.
