Van Roth would not exist after 84?

Man its no wonder spammy fans get bashed for being such idiots! There is so much talk about how the legacy of Van Halen would not have lived on past 84 and the happy-go-lucky party band image would have died out anyway after 84. If you ask any Spam fan they'll have their take on how Roth would not have been able to carry the torch and that Sam brought new life to VH. He did? According to popularity, every Van Hagar record sold less and less each time out and people were so fed up in 98 that the string of Platinum sales were over!

Someone please educate these idiotic Spammy fans in what Van Halen would have been instead of these moron's always looking into that useless crystal ball they have about Roth and VH and what would have been! They just don't get it! They never will!

i dont know...no one will ever know what happened if DLR hadnt left the band. bands dont stay on top like that for that long and it would have been interesting to see how they would have reacted to the shift away from the "party" rock when grunge exploded. no one will ever know though

but that buzz wouldnt have been there if they never had broken up in the first place. it would have been van halen at the VMAS....not the ORIGINAL VAN HALEN. DLR & VH sold less and less as the 90s went on, which Im afraid may hold our answer

Doubt classic Halen would have lasted longer than it did for the very reasons it fell apart in the first place:

Differences over musical direction and ego clashes.

To say the legacy wouldn't last past 1984 is obviously stupid, since the legend of the classic lineup only gains strength with every passing year.

Would Halen have continued to be successful after 1984 if Roth hadn't left? Agreed, you'll never really know. 1996 might not be the best indicator, since by then grunge was dying off. Put it this way, Van Hagar continued to sell records and tour throughout the early 1990s, so by that barometer there's every reason to believe classic Halen would have.

Think Halen was firmly up in that league of the Rolling Stones. Led Zeppelin and The Who, and all three of those bands had to weather various musical trends in the mid to late 1970s (punk, new wave, disco, etc.), but all three were successful in those years by commercial standards, if not necessarily in artistic merit.
          Scramby eggs and bacon.

And that's exactly the point, VHLS. They don't get it, and they never will. (Are we still talking about Van Hagar or their fans' sex lives.....?)

Anyway, there's no need on wasting time with these idiots. If you compare the first 6 to the other 4 VH CDs, and you can still think that they're ALL amazing, or even worse, if you think that Van Hagar has BETTER music than Van Halen....I can't stress this enough without sounding like a joke. But in all seriousness, you'd have to be a clueless idiot that has no musical credibility whatsoever.

And that's about the just of it.

All I can say is, Man what I would have given to have had classic Van Halen around to have helped get me through that awful miserable Grunge experience... ...Classic Van Halen would have probably kept hard rock alive through all that crap...
Knowing and believing are two very different things.

It is the difference between the knowledge we accrue... ...and the knowledge we apply.

it was alive...alice in chains and soundgarden were carrying the torch proudly although labeled "alternative". it was time for the hair metal to go away though. Alice is a terrific band
