Van Halen debuts at No. 2 on charts

By JOHN WILLIAMS -- JAM! Showbiz

Rock veterans Van Halen fell short in their attempt to knock off pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne from the top of the Canadian album charts this week.

Van Halen's compilation "The Best of Both Worlds," which includes three new tracks with returning member Sammy Hagar, debuted at No. 2 with sales of 10,100, according to figures compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

It wasn't enough to oust Lavigne's "Under My Skin," which occupied the No. 1 spot for a third consecutive week in a row on sales of 12,700.

Yeah, this is all so sad. I'd rather the band broke up in 1984 then remember them this way. It seems like everyone is kicking Van Halen's asses these days...

Good for her! not that it's hard to beat out Van Hagar nowadays, kinda like a grasshopper without wings, it can only 'hop' so far...

I respect Avril MUCH more than Van Hagar. Avril is much more honest than the joke that Van Hagar has become since they were Van Halen.

                      Avril rox!
                      Van Hagar sux!

                      ....so what else is new....?

Dave's the only reason this IS charting.

                              Wrong.

"Diamond Dave" charted at #18 on the Billboard indie chart, and that's just his last album. Going back 5 albums, "Skyscraper" didn't chart?

I see your "Guess Who's Back" thread got moved to the Dump.
