AAAAAND...if you think about it, Dave has always been the creative one. Ed was 'just' a virtuoso. He could have easily been one of the many who had 'moderate' careers but he ended up in the right vehicle with 'Van'.

The Van Halens can't do shit without a lead singer who has some creative input. The Van Halens are specialists but they are lousy producers. Van Halen 3 is what you will get from Alex or Eddie with a puppet singer. Classic Van Halen was Dave and Ted Templeman at the helm with Eddie, Alex, and Mike in the engine room. Ed hated Ted and Dave having all the say but hey kid, now we know why they did. Ed and Al never would have gotten out of Pasadena if it weren't for Dave and his father supporting them. I don't think the Roth's ever got a thank you.

The Van Halens are stuck on themselves. They are an important part granted but not the whole part and they still want to be everything.

Mike has stayed married to the same woman for many years. Even through the wild Van Halen years. Mike kept his marriage together for a reason. He probably was the sanest member of that band.

Dave is working on a secret project - whatever the F that is - and I bet Eddie does not like how it is coming out.

Sorry dude, I play guitar and Ed was a major reason for that. But, I doubt that Ed knows what´s going on around him most of the time! He´s a sad parody of the inspiration he once was!

I really hope Dave has something good going on on the side. I always feel sorry for Dave when he tries to promote CVH only for the brothers, usually Ed, to fuck it up!

Ted Templeman said the dynamic in Van Halen changed as soon as Ed built his studio. He said when you are renting studio time you have to get on with it. When you own the studio you can take your time and play with the mixes too much. He didn't say it but you could tell he was saying 5150 ruined Van Halen. That band died as soon as 5150 came into the picture. 5150 is police code for the criminally insane. Well it's fitting because as soon as we heard about 5150 Sammy Hagar showed up.
