Does anyone else feel line China Town is Ed giving the middle finger to Steve Vai. That song feels like Shyboy, from the intro, through the chorus where Ed's guitar mimics the vocal line ala shyboy, to the end with the crazy breakdown before the final note.
Furthermore, HBSD definitely feels and sounds like Ed showing Joe Satriani how to play in drop D and use a whammy pedal. If you've heard The Mystical Potatohead Groove Thing or Searching you'll probably understand what I mean.Eat Us and Smile!Comment

I have a lot of respect for Steve Vai. Steve once said Eddie Van Halen was one of those rare players that change the world. Steve said Ed is in that category and he is not. Steve is a good player but he knew Ed had that rare magic that only a very few have. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Yep - I think this every time I hear it. Seems like Ed saying "Hey, I'm the guitar god here, and yes, I can do that too."My karma just ran over your dogma.Comment

When we were accusing them of doing nothing and wondering what was going on, VH was busy. Eddie had to have surgery. Wolfie needed to get his stuff together. Those guys invested a whole lot of time and effort and it shows. Sometimes I think they play better now than they ever did. The band is tight. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment
