Sesh, in case you haven't noticed, it's 2015.

What they should do, instead of a lame opening act, is play a longer show with an intermission to rest their old tired asses. That should help Dave's voice.

They missed their chance to really make a comeback between 1996-2000...

And there's the kicker. Too bad Wolfie was only like 5 years old back in '96. He probably could have negotiated Dave's return if he hadn't been too busy being five freaking years old. Ed should have taught him how the play the bass when he was three so they could have brought dave back in '96.

And IF those bands put out vinyl - they're buying that too. They want the CD and the little booklet that comes with it, same with the records. And they buy a digital copy too to listen to on their phones or whatever. My daughter has a couple of favorite groups and she's got three copies of all of their records - if they're available on vinyl. And believe it or not most of her friends do too.
So things are coming full circle? I didn't know that.

ADKOT sold about a million worldwide. Take off the production costs and even with a good royalty rate I'm certain that the tour is where they made the money.

An arena headliner can clear 40-50% of the gross.

                  On the 2012 tour

                  The stats:
Van Halen played 49 shows in 47 cities.

Average number of tickets sold per show: 9,513
                  Average ticket price: $100.11
Total number of tickets sold: 448,506
                  Average gate per show: $955,319
                  Tour gross: $44,900,000

My guess is that they made well over $4 million each on that tour, they probably made a couple of nights on that tour than they did in total from ADKOT royalties.

Well I don't know that is come full circle, but I know for a fact my kid's friends are all about buying the tangible product that they can hold in their hands. Maybe most people still steal stuff but at least some of the younger kids are buying the hell out of it. Which is good.

And thanks for posting the stats from the last tour.

Most of the shows I went to had big sections curtained off, but I didn't realize they only averaged 9,500 a show. In that case, they will be in deep trouble on this tour. They better keep those dates to a bare minimum.

It's about the prices though, even half full at $100 a ticket they made good money.

I dunno will people travel long distances to see them if there is no local show? If they only do 10 or 15 shows rather than 50 will people travelling save them?

The gig I went to on the first 'reunion' tour looked almost sold out to me, I had forgotten sales were down on the second one.

There is an argument that you could blame Eddie being drunk for half the first tour for that...
