This is their "definitive" live album?? Really? Why not clean up the original US Fest recording and put that out as their "definitive" live record?

I'm all down for a current "live" record. But it sounds nothing like Van Halen. Which is fine since it's not Van Halen. Yes, the live shows are great if you're there. But why not put out a record of the most recent version of VH and the REAL Van Halen?

I'm not gonna trash the new live record. I hope the 300 people that buy it love it. But this sure as shit ain't a "definitive" live performance. It's not even all that great of a performance.

Ah, I hope everybody loves this record. I really do. I'll sit here in the Roth Army Recording Studios and continue to burn boots of the old shows and distribute the shit out of them so people can see the real Van Halen....

Dave's doing that thing where he forces the higher registers...trying to ignore it, but it's pretty damn distracting. I think the guy's voice is still fantastic (when he actually sings, as opposed to yowling) - he should just do what he can do and go for the overall performance.

But then again, if he did that...it wouldn't be Dave. Still the best frontman in the biz.

The unfortunate thing is that the band is counting on the bulk of their fans having that particular mindset. Such a bummer that they've grown even lazier than they were during the Hags era. When you don't have to work a day job and all you have to do is create music and put it out once every 2 years, one would think there should be no problem in achieving that. Not these guys. One studio release since Roth's return. Shameful.
