It's only a matter of time...That's right, brother...
These people are sellouts and total scum...
They're not getting my money with their cash grab bullshit...
This 3/4 version of Van Halen is sub-par crap...
The Wolfie era is over...
I'd rather see them with Sammy and Michael Anthony at this point...American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.

Michael Anthony may be the one sitting on the vault...Do you really think Gene gives anyone anything without a backdoor benefit to himself?
Not these days, but as I remember the story, he gave the tapes to the band...
I do remember ed mentioning some damage to tapes...perhaps that is what he means by lost?
Maybe lost means Michael Anthony has the good stuff and the damage is what Ed did to their relationship...
We know he has some stuff and I think he was the smart guy in the band...Comment

Not only are they making a shit ton of money touring, they re-recorded all their hits with Arnel on the vocals. And damn if I ain't been in stores and heard the new versions of the songs being played. So they are raking in the dough from that. Oh, and that record sold over a million copies pretty fast.I guess Dave doesn't believe Ed is smart enough to pull a Neal Schon, and get some clone that will sing every song Ed tells him to sing. You motherfuckers can laugh all you want about that idea, but take a look at the tour grosses Journey has been pulling down the last few years. If Ed resigns himself to the idea that making new music is out of the question, I wouldn't be surprised to see him do just what Journey did.
Of course, Van Halen wouldn't see those kinds of numbers if they did the same thing: hired a Ralph and re-recorded the hits. Mainly because their fan base is shrinking faster than your balls on ice. Sure, they sell plenty of tickets on tour. But there will always be a shit load of people in any town who buy tickets to any big name show coming to town. Always.
Sounds almost impossible to even imagine it happening...but you put somebody like Ralph up there who can sing every goddamn song almost exactly like Dave and has a Dave kinda look and people would love it. Or Dave could just cancel his next 12 tattoo appointments and hire a decent vocal coach and try to recapture the magic.American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.

I don't doubt for one second that the tapes in Ed's Magical Mystery Vault are either missing or damaged beyond restoration. Or at least so damaged as to make restoring them an extremely expensive, time consuming project.
And honestly, does anybody really believe these guys all have copies of the majority of the stuff that was either recorded and/or broadcast? I seriously doubt it. Mikey - the one guy who has nothing to lose - has said he has "some stuff" but no full Oakland show, no full this, no not that either. I really doubt these guys were sitting there at the end of a show saying "Ok, run 12 copies of tonight's show and put 'em in the truck." Even the shows they recorded that they watched later to see how their performance looked - why would they keep that? It's just another show in another town and next week they're gonna do 5 more just like it. And then 5 more next week, and on and on and on.American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.

I don't know why you think Ed has much of anything...
He's been a total wreck most of his life...
People like that don't keep or categorize jack squat...
And what he does have is probably soaked in rancid, festering cheap wine...Comment

I think in the Hag years the Inside Mag said Al would listen to a copy of almost every show they did around that era. I wonder if he still does ? Maybe not. He probably can't listen too Dave !! Maybe that's why they let him chose the show. They couldn't listen to that shit ! LOL!I don't doubt for one second that the tapes in Ed's Magical Mystery Vault are either missing or damaged beyond restoration.
