By the way, I just thought about the fact that most magazines run behind (the issue you see of MDrummer is probably a month old in terms of the news they rec for the issue) so it's possible the VAN HAGAR ad could have been from very early 86' since they would have gotten the info from possibly a couple of months back. From memory though I'm almost positive it was in the 85' year. I'll never forget seeing that ad. I even showed it to a fellow classic VH fan at school. Like I said they should have changed the name. VHalen died in 1985.

Oh sorry, I hate to differentiate myself from all the other "losers" on this site! But in any case, wasn't Roth suing for back royalties, just recently? It's not about anyone being cooler, but one guy is in VH and one isn't, and is playing Vegas!! FUCKING VEGAS!!!! AGAIN!!!! Come on, I'm sure Dave posts on here almost everyday!! knowitall, I have to say...making anti-Dave posts here doesn't really solve anything. Frankly, I think the band is a little more embarressing right now. They are touring under the very legendary Van Halen name but people aren't coming out to shows because they know it's not the real band.

Dave is in hiding right now, BTW. Lord knows why.

Furthermore, Sam was playing bloody casinos and small clubs last time he toured near my neck of the woods (you know, near Lake Ontario...close to Japan).

The band has had bad ticket sales, bad BOBW sales...what more can you say? Sammy Hagar does not draw the Van Halen fans back. Only one singer does.

Furthermore, Dave sued the band two years ago. And he did so with good reason...they cut a new deal in which they got a bigger cut of the VH royalties. They had no right to do so, legally, so he sued. Why he backed down, God only knows. I suppose if you were Dave and you found out that Michael Anthony makes more money off sales of DIVER DOWN than you do, you'd do nothing, right? Because we can't insult the great Eddie Van Halen, right?

Erik Estrada speaks-- listen ,I just think the whole one sided-ness of this site needs a little balance. I came on this site out of plain curiosity as I saw that Roth is now training to be an EMT in NY and wondered what the old fool is up to. I was just dismayed by the overall negativity of this site..... he hasn't been in the band in 20 years and it begs the question-- How bad is it with Dave that VH will just not tour with him, PERIOD???? They don't like Hagar either, but were willing to tour with him regardless of what the fans seem to really want. I don't think EVH is doing this just to fuck with the fans, he wanted to tour, and the only real option was with Sammy, not with Dave and stadiums. WHY??? Money wasn't an issue because he walked away from $$million$$$ to do this tour with Sammy. Dave is just THAT hard to deal with. So that's it. Incidentally, RIKK, I'm from Ontario as well, and haven't purchased a VH album since 1984, and bought Roth's EE&S album, but not "new" VH. And Roth was cool in VH---he just hasn't really done anything worthwhile since, IMO.

The part of the equation you are missing is that your "balance" IS NEGATIVE to this site. This is not the VH/Dave/Hagar site. It is the DLR Army site. We are Roth fans. We do not give a crap about the other members of the once great VH. We are not interested in listening to someone who thinks they are educating us with their Pro-VH trash. If you really did love Roth, why would be be interested in balancing us? Do you make sure you criticize your family members just so they don't get too much of that one-sided love crap? Do you sometimes root against your favorite team just to be sure you are not so one-sided? There is no credence to the issues you brought regarding casinos and lawsuits, nor is their any sense to your balancing act. If you don't like the site, don't let the door hit you in the ass

Most Casino's these days have arenas for these kind of events--catch up with the new century, kids. VH may be playing Vegas but they're JUST PASSING THROUGH not taking up residence, a la someone putting on a show there in one of many tacky lounges. And Roth WAS going to do another attempt at a Vegas revue--but couldn't get it together. Bringing truth to this site is a parody in itself--no one is interested in that--they just want to live in a special time in the 1980's when DLR was still in VH. My point is--MOVE FORWARD!! All you seem to have is what Dave did in the past, and you seem to want to believe all that can be recaptured, when it can't. You hate ol' Sammy for being older.... Roth has also aged!! Roth has also obviously burned far too many bridges to ever get back to the other side of fame. So, my advice is : FORGET ABOUT VH!!! They have moved forward. You and Roth haven't!!! Talk about what he does now, instead of 20 yrs ago. You do that if there's continuity to his career, but he hasn't had one in about 15 yrs. We spend A LOT of time talking about what he does now. We also spend a lot of time having Sheep (like yourself) trying to convince us that Sammy is the way of the present. Well, if the way of the present is to record three shitty songs and make you buy two CDs for it, or to charge you $100 for the same shitty setlist you've been offered for fifteen years, or to just suck out and stop making albums (because of "downloading"), well then...fuck it! I'll take the past. Plus, rock 'n' roll (to me) has always been about testosterone. And I'm afraid Sammy Estrogen just ain't the answer. Even a dead Roth would be better than a living Sammy. And I'd rather the band were broken up than still out there destroying the legacy Dave helped create.

When I go home from work, I won't be posting any more today, but folks I work with find your replies as funny as I do. No, I think Sammy Hagar sucks, he's always been a tool, but VH does have an audience that loves Sammy for whatever the reasons. AND he's in VH, not Roth. I wouldn't pay to see this tour, but I wouldn't pay to see the travesty that it would be to have "today's" Roth fronting the band either. Knowing what you know about the animosity that VH and Roth have for each other, wouldn't THAT be a sham??? Come on folks.... what is this site if you can't laugh at the self parody that Roth has become? The tragi-funny, quasi-entertainer that he has d-evolved into? And he did it all to himself!!
