No Album After Tour, sez Sam

Actually I would applaud their effort and hope it sounds better than the 3 new songs on the BOV2. Im all for good music, I dont care who sings it. It just so happens that Dave is the King of frontmen, thus making him a fav. If VH choose to release an album this or next year, it would at least seem as though they are doing SOMETHING other than just 3 new songs and rehashing classics on a sham tour to line their pockets. You dont see this?

there will never be another Elvis, Monroe, JFK, Mona Lisa or Rebrandt...and I truly believe there will never be another Dave Roth. That's what made Van Halen special, regardless of album sales with Hagar or tours. They will never have that "Dave Magic" again. It's their loss.

I don't know if anyone of you remember dave's appearance at the end of the sam&dave tour when he left the studio someone said that this was a "good promotion" and dave walks by and says "we don't have to promote (advertise) anything...it's just about the music"...

and that's why dave does an album like "diamond dave"...he gives a shit if everybody downloads or likes or dislikes it...you buy it? good...you don't, your bad...he made it and had fun...

MY READ ON THIS

My read on this is simple. IF Hagar did say this then to me this is a form of pre-emptive DAMAGE CONTROL. He knows that the 2 new tracks with ROTH in 96' opened at #1 with 233,000 units sold largely on the anticipation of the new ROTH material. He also knows that this new VH set with his new 3 tracks sold around 138,000 which is right at 100,000 UNITS LESS. The second week numbers look horrible for the new 3 Hagar track best of set. In other words there is FAR LESS demand for new VH material with Hagar than there was for new stuff with ROTH. Also IF they do decide to do a new album of stuff with Hagar he'll use the downloading excuse as to why it didn't sell well and point to previous interviews and say "see I told you it wouldn't sell due to downloading". He's an idiot. And a liar. No 2 ways about it.

i still kind of surprised that he would come out and say that he was going to do a tour with the Wabos and that VH as a whole was dead. granted its not like you can hurt the sales of the dates anymore but it would be surprised at what the rest of the band has to say about it.

now they are just truly a touring band. i like the "just release" on the Internet part but still am pretty surprised that they came out and said it.
