I will wait to see sales for essential red collection, they are going to be good. I know for a fact that they have had less succesful tours, on the Balance tour they played a venue who total seat capacity is less than that of the concert a few weeks back, so thats bullshit. If dave were back, YOU would care more, not all the fans. So many blanket statments are made here that can never be proven or dispoven, so its all alot of opinion and no facts. "BOBW would sell better if dave were on it with new shit" Bullshit, you dont know that "Media would be a frenzy if Dave were back" again, how the hell do you know, why because they got a stading ovation at the 96 movie awards? Come on, you can not confidently say that a tour with dave would do anymore than this, especially after the first reviews come in.

No it did happen. We were there and got the whole show recorded. So we will post the sound bite up for ya. Funny thing about this concert was that the fans were really into the Dave era tunes more than the Van Hagar. The encores were You Really Got Me, Panama, and last When Its Love. Well Panama had the place rockin, even when dude took the Mic and said all that about 300,000 people here tonite. When Its Love left the crowd just hangin on from falling asleep!! It was NOT the climax of the show, as an encore usually is, Panama was!!!

      Just my observations.

Sammy's solo needs to go. It spoils the momentum. Everyone ends up sitting down or going to the bathroom or doing drink runs. Face it nobody wants to hear "When Eagles Fly" It takes a good 2-3 songs for the concert to revive after Sammys solo. Now Eddies solo kicks ass. The crowd loves it. At least that was my inpression of the crowd in Vegas! They were chanting Eddie! Eddie! and begging for more!!! I get the feeling it wasn't all pre-rehearsed but to me that's what made it so great! It was like watching my mentor fuss about on the guitar!
He is tha master! Polished, unpolished...He's fucking Eddie Van Halen Man!

I guess you don't remember how insane the media went in '96. I guess you also don't remember the fact that any media rumor concerning Dave re-joining made big newspapers over the past five years. But the media has been as quiet as mice over this reunion, and this with some hype.

If you really think the fact that Diamond Dave-brand VH is still played constantly on radio stations or on T.V. shows but Van Hagar is virtually never heard has no significance, then I think you'd be surprised by how much better a tour by the original VH band would do. SO MANY PEOPLE grew up on original VH...it's a major part of American culture. Everyone from musicians to actors to politicians still talk about the original VH. Sammy Hagar brought the world VH-lite. I'd love to know which papers you read to convince yourself which line-up were pop culture icons.

Also, you may think record sales don't count. I think the fact that just one of the original line-up albums (the debut, or you could choose 1984) sold more than half of the entire Van Hagar catalogue speaks volumes.

The tour would be big. If it makes you feel better to think the tour isn't so big because the name Van Halen isn't big anymore, keep fooling yourself. The name IS big, but people are smart enough to know when the concert they're seeing is actually the band they hear on the radio all the time. Almost every college kid in America (past and present) knows RUNNIN' WITH THE DEVIL. Find me 10% that have heard of RUNAROUND. Good luck.

I just told this dude that people get excited about Dave songs and he basically called me a fool. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. I've been to VH shows before and like always, the highlight are the Dave songs. Even if Spam destroys them. Even in "live without a net" and on "Right now live" you can hear the people going nuts when they play a Dave song.

Dude...YOU MUST POST THAT SHOW!!!! Can't wait!!!

That's it. TOM FOOLERY is going in the SHEEP PEN. He won't be SHEEP OF THE WEEK, but he's definitely a fucking sheep. Time to shear the wool.

Anybody that is confident and excited that sales for the Essential Red Collection are "going to be good" is an idiot and a fucking sheep, in my book.

I didn't say making the college radio rotation, idiot. It's an American-anthem. It's played on radio stations constantly still...and I've heard it at a million parties. And I'm still in my twenties...I've been hearing it at parties more and more the past few years. I have never in my life been to one party in the past seven or eight years that had Van Hagar playing. Imagine drinking a beer and hearing the opening to RUNAROUND begin...people would be like: "What the fuck is this shit?"
