Thanks man!
I really appreciate that.
Hurricanes are nothing new to me. Just an excuse to catch a decent wave in Florida.

Nice review, but Van Halen definately played Little Guitars on the Diver Down tour. Check out Largo '82 and argentina '83 etc..Originally posted by Rikk
LITTLE GUITARS
At least the band had the guts to pull this one out live on the 1984 tour. I don't remember them doing it on any of the DIVER DOWN boots I have. Anyway, another reason I consider this album possibly the band's most overlooked gem. (And my favorite lyric ever..."Can't crow before I'm out of the woods, but there's exceptions to the rule."
BTW, I thought Dancing In the Streets was better when they played it live w/out the keyboards.Achtung Baby I say, I say...Comment

I agree, great review. I remember buying this album hot off the presses and having it slammed by all of my friends because of "Dancing In The Streets." Back then, hard rock didn't even acknowledge Motown, let alone cover it. Just another example of Dave "infuencing" the band to have a set of balls. Once VH covered Motown, everybody and their brother was on the wagon (sorry about that Ed.)Comment

Well spoken! Diver Down is a fantastic and far to oft maligned album. Personally, I think each and every track works. One of the great things about it is the feeling one gets of hearing a band jam and have fun. There's a "we're just fucking around" quality to it that I love.
With the exception of Aerosmith (the other great american rock band), I can't imagine any other rocker having the balls to release Big Bad Bill. And that track just fucking swings, man!
Obviously, Full Bug is a true classic, a display of the straight from the gut power that VH had. It's so full of sweat and energy that it just wears you out.
The origianls are great, the covers rock (come on, name an artist more fit to cover Dancing In The Streets than VH?) and the album is a classic!Comment

And a great point...AEROSMITH released BIG TEN-INCH RECORD...and that's very comparable (attitude-wise) to BIG BAD BILL.
You got my vote!Roth Army Militia

LOL!! For some reason, that's one tune that just never did it for me. Still, it's Van Halen.Originally posted by DavidLeeNatra

I used to tape albums for friends all the time! Now I make mixed CDs. In fact, before Thursday I have to make my friend a mixed CD of Van Halen. It will have 100% Van Halen (including ME WISE MAGIC) except for HUMANS BEING, which he specially requested...and I must agree that that's a sweet song.
I'm doing a 1984 RE-VISITED review in the next few days. I look forward to the feedback and hearing other people's opinions.Roth Army Militia
