I consider a great frontman to be someone that you are actually in awe of...somebody that , when they blow through your little town, you actually think to yourself "holy shit..this fuckin person is in MY town!!!"
David lee Roth is a definate..i would say Axl Rose is certainly another...being a Crue fan i would have to add Vince Neil....the dude was a great frontman..

I'd put MARILYN MANSON ahead of half that list. I'd say more, but POJO already summed it all up.
            He throws a punch.
            He swings. I duck.
            His fat ass falls...
            Hey Sammy,you still SUCK!

how about i plug prince again, and say that the revolution was a band, and prince frotned them......and prince wrote some god damn timeless hard rock numbers.....people forget he can rock, go listen to bambi and make sure you have a change of pants for when yo ucream yourself at the greatness of the song, and listen to the incredible drums on darling nikki......and once again, david ruffin.......the man would spin and turn the mic behind his back, and in one smooth motion throw the mic in the air, do a split and than catch it while he is pulling out of the split, and in perfect timing with the song.......springstein is a great artist, but compared to the dancing of ruffin and dlr, he is nothing.....bruce cant dance for his life, we've all seen the video for dancing in the dark

Prince was # 1. I think it should have been Dave, but I can't knock Prince. Of course Sammy was no where on the list.
I would say that Prince is less of a front man and more of a band unto himself. Certainly there is nobody who is quite the ringmaster that Dave is.

I always thought that this might be the root of Eddies problem. He assumed that just because Dave tried hard to put on the show, he must assume that he IS the show. Dave saw his role as the ringmaster - there to focus the audience and direct their attention to the awe inspiring aspects of the show.

A circus without a ringmaster isn't a circus (as anyone with van hagar tickets will be painfully aware of) but a ringmaster without a circus blows just as hard. Bottom line, Ed and Dave need each other to put on the greatest show on earth!

                      My short list would be:
                      DLR
                      Prince,
                      James Brown
                      Bruce Springstein
                      Mick Jagger
                      Madonna
                      Bono
                      Bon Scott/Brian Johnson [/B][/QUOTE]

Not bad at all (though it is crime to put brain johnson anywhere near Bon Scott)!

I've gotta add Johnny Rotten to the list, though. He's about the ultimate combination of smarts, power, and agression.

Picked by editors. There's the problem. This poll means nothing.
