FEEL YOUR LOVE
great song..............DLR turns it on, i love the beginning where dlr goes "We're gettin funny in the back of my car..............im sorry honey if i took it just a little to farrrrrrrrrr yeah"................this is a real nice party song, and the chorus soars...........a great mikey and dave combo
I love this song but it's one of the goofiest tracks in the Dave era catalogue. Seriously, in the first verse he's tried to pressure this chick into having sex and got shut down. What's his next line of attack? Get all the fellas at the bar to tell her she's hot?
Huh? Does it work to have random strangers tell a girl she's hot and oughtta put out?Comment

Re: Van Halen I Revisited
I can only imagin how this album must have sounded in an era dominated by disco, the eagles, and fleetwood fuckingmac! This record would open a whole new sonic universe!
I've always thought Ed was kind of overrated as an overall player (I'll note, however, that he's a billion times better than I am). He's very busy and somewhat sloppy, relies on the A chord an awful lot, etc. What makes him a legend is his ability to break the boundries of what guitar is all about. Eruption is a perfect example of this. Obviously, this solo is a standout for one big reason - the tapping. People had done it before (Brain may does it in Bohemian Rhapsody) but nobody had ever incorporated it so fully into their technique. No other artist in history had grasped the possibilites of that simple idea.
To understand the influence of this one piece of music one need only look at how many guitarists in various since then, in almost every musical idiom, use tapping as a matter of course. I've seen everyone from classical guitarists to freaking Nils Lofgren tapping.Comment

VAN HALEN I left a nation of guitar players with their jaws resting on the floor. EVH could EXPLODE in a series of notes from out of nowhere. His rythm playing was inventive and bombastic. His use of slurs, pick slides, whammy dive-bombs, and trills set the standard for the next 10 years. DAVID LEE ROTH was the quintessential FRONTMAN/SINGER, who comanded attention and cracked people up with his wit. A truly MONUMENTAL recording.Comment
