I got int VH in 1981 at ten years of age. My Mom wouldn't take me to a show, out of fear that something "bad would happen." Fast forward five years, she bought me VH tickets....one small problem...no Dave. I went nonetheless afterwards feeling ripped off because I didn't hear "Unchained" etc. I then pleaded with my Mom that we had to see Dave on the EEAS smile tour in Detroit....Dave blew them away. It felt more like VH than VH did. Even at the ripe old age of 15, I knew the whole truth!!!
How many of you actually have seen Van Halen live?

I confess....
I wasn't terribly into VH until I saw them live at the 2007 tour and they TORE THE ROOF OFF THE PLACE! Killer show....I became a CVH convert and Roth fan for life!!!! WHOO HOO! :happy64:
Such is the magic of Van Halen with Roth onstage!!
Even though I am a latecomer to the game, the good news is that I missed all the painful Sammy years.......................I'm Stayin' Frosty!Comment

My first concert was 1984 in Montreal. As someone else mentioned there's a good boot of it. It was the day after Montreal eliminated the Quebec Nordiques from the playoffs and Dave came out with a Habs jersey late in the show. Crowd went bananas.
2007 reunion tour in Toronto.
Last month saw them in Ottawa.
Seen Dave on the Skyscraper tour and also about 10 years ago at Casino Rama near Toronto.Stay Frosty, muthas!Comment

I saw them in hampton, va for the 80, 81, and 82 tours and richmond, va for the 84 tour. It's a tough call for best show between the 80 and 81 tour...they were just "on fire". 84 show just didnt have the same magic as the other tours. There were a lot of young kids in the audience (prolly because of the success of Jump), and the show just seemed "more safe" compared to previous tours.Comment

Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!Comment

It does the soul good to confess so here it goes. My brother took me to my first concert. March 20, 1979. KISS on the Dynasty tour. I was only 11 years old! Been a huge live music fan ever since. Fast forward to February 10, 1984. Van Halen with Autograph is playing Knoxville, TN where I live. I, in my young and very dumb days, go to a stupid high school basketball homecoming dance instead of seeing the best fucking band on the planet! Did I get laid? No...that might make it worth it. But first base counts a little I guess when you're only 16. Over the next twenty some odd years, I saw them with Bette on the 5150 tour (May, 1986), twice on the OU812 (Monsters of Rock and Knoxville, TN), several times in Nashville, and in 1998 with Gary Cherone. Musically, one of the best shows I've seen. Little side note. Drove to Nashville from Knoxville without tickets. Hoping to scalp some. Went to the ticketmaster window at the old Starwood. I asked if they'd release any seats and what the best she had. She said "how about the front row?" I said c'mon lady, I just drove three hours and we still need to find a room. She said she wasn't kidding and so we got FRONT ROW seats on Eddie's side for face value. Eddie handed me his cigarette that night. Very cool now that I relived it! lol! Saw them in Greensboro with Spammy in 2004, but as we all know, that tour was a DISASTER from the start.
I kicked myself in the ass for years...hoping beyond hope that they'd reunite and I finally got to see them with Dave three times on the reunion tour. Charlotte, Atlanta, and Gwinnett Center (outside of Atlanta). Saw them opening night in Louisville and will see in June in Phoenix with my brother. Thanks for letting me share...BTW...I think the chick from high school that I took to the dance recently "switched teams" so I could REALLY kick myself in the ass now! lol! Hopefully, one of these years, they'll be some pro shot shit of the '84 tour. I could sure use some vindication!!Comment
