    1984 by a bare margin.

Hot For Teacha and Panama are like a time machine that transports me back to the days when spandex was considered a fashion statement...:D
Without DLR in the lineup, Van Halen is merely Rat Salade...

Is this really a question? It's got to be 1984. Diver Down was the worst record VH ever recorded, yes even worse than any of the Hagar albums and VHIII.

Diver Down had cover songs they learned before they were even signed. They had some aversion to studios that year. Only good songs on Diver Down... Where have all.. Hang 'em High.. The Full Bug.. Those were worth the price though..

I agree, I did like them but I just don't like too many cover songs. If you want to do one on an album or every other album, that's fine. But several on one album is just too many FOR ME.

Little guitars alone puts DD on top. I definately like it better than 1984.

Pft, 1984, hands down, end of topic.
What kind of stupid ass question is that?
You're asking if one of the best VH albulms is better than one of their worse?

1984 was awesome, and actually featured a lot of original, kick ass material.

Diver down was going to end up being a cover ep, if it wasn't for the fact that for about 3 tracks, Ed and DAve got off their lazy, uninspired asses to write some damn original material.

Now granted, I liked diver down...but 1984 was so much better.

For me that will be 1984. It's the first VH I bought and I still remember the chills when I first played it...

Since then, I still go up and down each time I hear "Jump" and bang on everything I find when I hear "Hot for teacher". I used to listen to this one every morning before school. Just to get in the right mood.

So that's definitely 1984, but DD has one of my 5 CVH favorites and that is "The full bug". Great song.

1984 hands down. both are great albums but 1984 has Hot For Teacher, Girls Gone Bad, Panama, all the great stuff.

Diver Down is the most underated VH album ever.
Having said that, 1984 for me.

                            Hmmmmm....

At the moment DIVER DOWN. Kinda burnt on 1984.

                            Both STELLAR.

One was made in weeks, under pressure from the record company...the other took a year, and broke up the band.

Underrated my ass. It sold over 2 million...(i.e. Double Platinum)It was CLEARLY well appreciated. The reason why it didn't sell as good as the other albulms was for the fact that it lacked enough original material to merrit the large sums of sales that other cvh albulms had.

And...yet it sold more than FAIR WARNING...which had ALL original material.
