Short/kewl versions of the username when it's people whom I like & respect and fucked up versions of th username when I don't like the poster. Hardly ever use a proper nickname.

Brad $tarks was the former webmaster of the official Van Halen/Van Hagar/VDIII website. The website rarely had any up to date news on the band (even when there actually was such a thing) and even though he supposedly had inside word from the band itself, was often scooped by the Van Halen News Desk, which at the time was based in Australia. Even another Aussie site, Melodicrock, had more VH news than the official site, though most of theirs turned out to be wrong.

Fans asked $tarks how these guys on the opposite end of the planet were getting the news before he was and he replied "Hey, I'm just a Mushroom. They keep me in the dark and occasionally feed me bullshit. No news is good news"

They farmed out the site design to t42design. It was supposed to be a full blown site but something got hosed up right before they were supposed to luanch. I suspect it was over the replace MA in the album artwork deal. Fans bitched and Eddie canned it all.
