Neither De La Hoya or Mayweather is in his league I'm afraid, I reckon he could have beaten them both at Welterweight or Junior Middle Weight.

There are some people in this world that I wish would never grow old. Sugar Ray is one of them. Loved to watch my man scrap it out with the best in his division.

Oscar has his work cut out for him, but he's a great fighter facing another great fighter who has a huge job to do also. It should prove to be a spectacular bout! I have nothing against Mayweather, but I want to see Oscar earn another great win, leaving the Sweet Science behind him in victory over a great opponent.

Yeah, I think an Oscar victory is a winner for the sport:

It would be a good way for him to finish his career, and it would probably stop Mayweather from retiring and make him fight some of the other quality fighters around that he hasn't fought: Shane Mosely at Junior Middleweight (who I reckon would beat Mayweather), Margarta and Hatton in the Welter-weight divisions as well.

I really think that would be good for the sport. the last 10 years or so have seen "great" champions having fights hand picked for them to make them look good: the problem is that there are so many different belts at each weight that you can become a champ without necessarily fighting all of the quality opposition...

Let me spell it out for you all...

Mayweather is the better fighter right now. I have nothing to say anything different. Nothing.

        I can't stand De La Hoya...and I can't stand Mayweather.

So what I'll say is this.

In De La Hoya's prime, he had the power to win this fight, but not the game plan.

Mayweather? I don't know what to make of him. He's got that fucking big mouth that makes me want to puke.

I just wish he and his big fucking mouth would have been around 25 years ago...because I can name 5 fighters that would have busted him in the mouth, and coasted to a win.

Unfortunately, this fight game doesn't have a fighter worth a damn. So Mayweather can open up his mouth, without fear of retribution.

        Will he win this fight?

Who fucking cares. De La Hoya hasn't fought a fucking fight in 20 years it seems. Nice brush up fight eh?

and Mayweather? Christ...who has he fought that will be remembered? Who will he ever fight that will be remembered?

And IT DOES MATTER THAT THERE AREN'T ANY GOOD DAMN FIGHTERS...HISTORIC FIGHTERS...IN THEIR PRIME...

Ask Roy Jones Jr., who dominated for years, and now is a mockery.

Take a good look at Jones Jr. Mayweather...because people don't like him...

and you make him look like fucking Ali...

Don't get me wrong...I loved Sugar Ray Leonard. I'll tell you what though...

there was nothing like watching Marvelous Marvin Haglar stalking an opponant (robbed by Sugar Ray...by the way).

there was nothing like watching Thomas "The Hit Man" Hearns come up with the complete fight...where he would stalk, and dance, and level.

and Roberto Duran, who would get pummeled...before knocking the shit out of you with the "Hands of Stone."

Sugar Ray was the smartest of the four...and knew how to get in your head without acting like a fucking jizz bag.

Mayweathers likens himself to an Ali...

but he doesn't get what Ali was all about. Ali used to scare the shit out of people...

          Mayweather just pisses people off.

I would love to have some fighter...bust him in the fucking clam without his bitches getting in the way...

          just once...

and De La Hoya...is like Rocky in Rocky 4...I'm just waiting for Paulie's fucking robot to enter the ring with him...

Well said. There's NOBODY out there currently of the caliber of an Ali or Ray Leonard. And Mayweather HASN'T really fought anyone of note. My only hope is that Oscar will smack him in that big fucking mouth a couple of times...knock him down once. Just to humble him (if that's even possible).

I was a big Roy Jones fan, but he proved to be similar to Tyson in that once enough tapes of his fights circulated, better fighters were able to examine his style and pick it apart....

              Well no shit!

Boxing died the day Buster Douglas exposed Tyson as a bullying bitch......

The Hitman is my favorite fighter of all time, Jake La Motta a close second....

Boxing used to be the shit. I mean cmon...La Motta and Sugar Ray Robinson fought 6 fucking times! Why? Because everybody else was too fucking scared to fight them. So they beat the shit out of each other. That's boxing. You all named em. Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Leonard....those are fighters......

That being said...I am a fan of boxing, and won't whine because they're aren't any real studs out there anymore. So you go with what you've got.

              And I got Mayweather.

              Lemons and lemonade, gents.....

              I just like gambling.

I used to think he would never suffer from the slurred speech and cloudy mind because he never had to take a volume of punches, because he didn't have the chin, he simply couldn't.

His opponents went to the hospital all the time, including Hagler. For that brief moment, I thought he had him, but once Hagler weathered the storm, I knew it was curtains.

But hell yeah, from his first title on, he did well against everyone else. When he started moving up is wwhen he started getting his ass kicked. Iran Barkley owned him, and I never understood why he didn't box him more. Tommy liked to match power shots, he just didn't have the chin to do it.

Like Pojo said, Hagler got robbed in the Leonard fight, and I agree, but so did Hearns in the rematch with leonard, they gave Sugar the draw. Everyone booed the decision, Tommy knocked him down in the fight.

                        You got it exactly right......

If Hearns had half a chin, he could have a serious claim to the best ever crown....

But that's what is so great about him. Those wars in the 80's......man it almost didn't matter who won. The fights were so good, you were just happy to have seen them.

                        True, real warriors.....

Either one of these guys we're supposed to be talking about.......in 1983 nobody would have ever heard of em.........
