    The KISS "Dynasty" appreciation thread!

Time to give credit where credit is due.

While not your typical KISS album and is quickly brushed off as the 'KISS Disco' album because of ONE song, I thought it was time to celebrate this GRATE release in KISStory.

    Yeah, that's right. Dynasty ROCKS!

Fuck all you losers who jerk off to shit like Hot in the Shade and Crazy Nights, DYNASTY is fookin' cool, BROTHA!

This era may be a bit tainted since it served to be Peter Criss' last album and tour with KISS until the mid 90s reunion.

But the outfits were cool as were the songs.

    1. Charisma

I love this song! It perfectly projects the THEN larger than life image of Gene Simmons. 'What is my charisma'?? Yeah, what makes this woman go crazy for the demon?? You get the point.

    2. Magic Touch

Not too bad, but its not the best Paul song from Dynasty. Too much Desmond Child influence.

    3. Hard Times

Awesome Ace track, and a rarity 'cause KISS themselves never played it live (save for Ace himself, on solo tours).

    4. X-Ray Eyes

Another often overlooked song from Gene. Cool vibe. And the only other song Gene did for 'Dynasty'. He was too busy fucking Cher.

    5. Save Your Love

Another grate Ace song. Awesome solo from the one and only Spaceman!

    6. 2,000 Man

Ace shines once again. Frehley he is all over Dynasty, no doubt due to the success of his '78 solo album. This cover of the Stones song has a great hook and really became a signature song for Ace, despite it being written by Jagger and Richards.

    7. Sure Know Something

The best Paul song from Dynasty. Very cool.

    8. Dirty Livin'

Peter's only apperance on Dynasty ( I say this because Criss did not play drums on the album other than this song. Richie Fontana played the skins on 'I Was Made For Lovin' You' and Anton Fig played on the rest of the tracks).

But the Catman shines on this tune. Its one of my faves from Peter and it rocks!

....again, I'm not gonna mention I was Made for Lovin' You, although seen as a Disco song, its still cool, and is one of KISS' most popular songs.

    DYNASTY!!!

That Dynasty tour in '79 was my first concert. Awesome! I remember a guy named Johnny Couger opened up.

Re: the Dynasty album, great riffs on 2,000 Man. And the thing was labeled a disco album because of that one song.

A lot of people say the Dynasty tour was a failure..........bullshit. In a year where concert attendance was WAY down, that tour still averaged around 10,000 a night. Great thread Vinnie..........

                            You're right.

                            It wasn't a failure.

You wanna talk about a failed tour, see Creatures of the Night/10th Anniversary tour 82-83.

KISS played to half empty arenas.

No wonder they decided to play Brazil, to 200,000 people.
