The KISS "Dynasty" appreciation thread!

I remember getting Dynasty for my 10th B-Day and playing the shit out of it until my needle broke and I didn't know ho wto replace it. Always loved 2000 Man. I even like Unmasked. Talk To Me, Torpedo Girl, Two Sides of the Coin, Shandi. Yep. I liked em all. But there's another thread flaming Unmaske so I'll shut up now,

I may be in the minority to say that I really liked the Dynasty outfits.

Sure, they're over the top, and I think that's what the point was.

KISS were starting to be SUPER HEROES moreso with Dynasty than in the early days when they were a shock-rock group.

Ace's Dynasty outfit is always the best.

ACE's Dynasty outfit is his best. Easily. GENE's is also very cool.

I think the Dynasty period, image-wise, was awesome. Those videos (I WAS MADE, SURE KNOW SOMETHING) sum up that late-70s essence of classic KISS better than anything, I think. Great period for them.

"Charisma" has to be one of the most under-rated Kiss songs ever...and one of the strangest.

One of those one off Kiss songs like "100,000 years" or "Going blind".

Even with the supposed "disco" style on "Dynasty", some bands get credit for trying something different while some bands get flamed.

You`re either stuck in a rut or selling out your original fanbase.

It`s damned if you do, damned if you don`t.

Great album. I Was Made For Lovin' You takes shit, but it's a great tune. And it SMOKES live. The version on Alive III is one of the saving graces of that shitty album.

And Save Your Love is about as badass as a KISS song has ever been. Ace isn't a great singer, but the anger in his voice puts this song over the top.

Interesting thing to ponder - would this album have been as good if Peter had played on the whole thing? I think one of the unsung heroes of the album is Anton Fig. His playing drives the whole album.

Frankly, Peter was never my favorite in the band. I always thought his drumming was a little weak. But Ace's tunes on the album are kickass! Ace always had his style...simple, relaxed vocals, with kind of odd lyrics. I can't think of any of his tunes that weren't good.
