OK,..... a person that just hear radio published music will not cared about Dio since 1984 and will love Def Leppard........but also would (our could) love Britney or Fifty Cents....maye that same person would also loved New Kids on the Block or even Marky Mark.

What you say about the "another $5" I think Dio is refering to the people that hunts for an autograph for later sell it. He is saying "another $5" to the person that will sell the signed item....not that he was changing $5 for the autograph. It was like saying "OK I know all this crap you're making me sign is going to end in e-bay soon...but I will sign it anyway, be happy"

Yes, in fact, they are great. If they're not great, they're a lot more interesting then anything Def Leppard's recorded since 1984...at least Ronnie's still true to his music and his fans...Def Leppard can't figure out what to do from one album to the next and is in a perpetual downhill spiral while Joe Elliot screams in every interview "Why doesn't anybody like us as much as they like BON JOVI???".

EXACTLY. Ronnie doesn't charge anything for autographs...I know full well. Musicians, actors, etc know full well that what they sign will probably end up on ebay at some point or another. I recently went to a book signing and the author actually asked me if I wanted him to sign "To whoever" or if I wanted him to leave it blank in case I wanted to ebay it later on...

Ronnie will take all the time in the world to sign whatever you bring him and he'll treat you like you're the singularly most important person in his fanbase, regardless of who you are or how pressed for time you are...bar none, easily the most friendliest of professional musicians I have ever met, and that I don't say lightly.

High N' Dry, Pyromania and (to a slightly lesser extent) Hysteria ARE three great albums, agreed.

And Steve Clark DID fuckin' rock, agreed.

For myself, wouldn't put what Lepp did quite on the same level as what RJD has done. Matter of personal taste, but even what RJD was doing with Sabbath as late as the Dehumanizer album (which was several years after RJD's 15 minutes of fame in the 1980s) is still far above Lepp at their best.

Leppard were one of the bigger pop-rock bands. Can't argue with the amount of albums Pyromania and Hysteria have sold in terms of making the case that the group didn't have SOME type of success. But at the end of it all, Leppard (particularly after Willis left the band, though not necessarily BECAUSE of his departure) will always be a pop rock band, half a step removed from Bon Jovi; they may dress like rock stars and have the look/hair/loud guitars, but it's pop music.

There's nothing wrong with that per se, if that's what one wants to hear, and I certainly listened to enough Leppard in the 1980s (these guys didn't sell 40 million + records by accident), but in terms of staying power (a mark of a great musician vs. a great pop/rock star) I can't honestly remember the last time I consciously put on a Leppard album, whereas something RJD sang on is usually in rotation in my cd player.
