Despite the fact that they've made shit records for the last ten years, I have no problem with the Chili Peps getting in - their 80s and early 90s output was great, and inventive, music.

It all depends on if Chad is gonna have Sammy as one of the guests at his table.

The only reason the Chili Peppers are getting in is due to the high volume of recent record sales caused by the Chickenfoot frenzy. If it weren't for Chickenfoot, people would not be suddenly buying old Peppers albums...or Satch albums, VH albums, etc...

I really don't think that's the case for the Chili Pepps. They have been HUGE in Europe for the last ten or so years, and could quite easily do a stadium tour at any time they chose. 'Bloodsugarsexmagic' and 'Californication' still sell major amounts of units over here.

If you think back to the mid to late 80s, the Chili Pepps sit alongside Jane's Addiction and Faith No More as really expanding the boundaries of what was acceptable in heavy rock. It's just a shame that when they got clean they became boring :D

Love that album. Me & two friends drove deep into Baja CA through 12 hours of desert for a fishing trip. Four days of drunkenness & wore the fuck out of this album. Problem is, I can't hear it now without thinking of that trip...at least what I can remember of it.

              Re: KISS

No matter what you think, they deserve to be there for sure...
Early Kiss was cool, I was on the Kiss bandwagon totally when
they created the stir... Like many bands I loved, they have
since killed the love, but their achievements make them worthy,
no doubt at all, should have happened sooner...

They better have the original four members on the night too !
Not "Ace and Peter of the week" walking alongside Gene and Paul..
If they do that, fuckem, they dont deserve it...

Mind reader dude, when I read the list I was thinking Deep Purple and
                Alice Cooper too....

Off the subject a bit, but I'm starting to get a feeling that Alice and Ace might wind up working together one day. I know they've jammed a bit lately and there are a few tracks on Ace's new CD that I could easily hear Alice singing to. It could really work if they could coordinate a project.

i wonder what MJ had to say about Mercury. supposedly MJ told everyone within earshot that Jagger was a terrible singer and was off-key during the State of Shock session.

God knows, since both Mercury and Jackson have ceased to be...

Funny that Michael would say that about Mick's performance, since it's nearly identical to Freddie's on that song. And that's from two singers who otherwise wouldn't be confused for one another.

My vote would go to the true Deep Purple lineup: Gillan/Blackmore/Glover/Lord/Paice. And the early members Rod Evans & Nick Simper as well. "Hush" alone would justify their inclusion.

As much as it sickens me, I'm sure some would insist that Covercheeseball be included. But I absolutely draw the fucking line at Joe Lynn Turner or anyone who has come and gone since the REAL Deep Purple reunion crashed and burned in the early 1990's.
I totally agree with the lineup you presented and the lack of inclusion of Coverdale and Turner. The classic line up is the Machine Head and Perfect Strangers group.

I heard today that Chicago is not in the RRHOF which kind of surprised me. I never was much of a Chicago fan but i can see where they deserve it. Some of the stuff they did in the 70's with the horn section was pretty classic and was commercially successful. Then they reinvented themselves as just a pop act in the mid 80's and sold a lot of records again. Any band that has two decades of popularity and finds a way to reinvent themselves, i have to respect. Again, not a big fan but just pointing out another possible flaw in the system.
