He needs to be out there on time & giving 110%. he could learn a lot watching a current Van Halen show and what Roth is giving to the fans.

Binnie, I agree with almost everything you said in your most recent post about Axl. You certainly know alot about many different kinds of music from what I can tell. You really like Chinese Democracy? I had heard some leaks before the actual album came out and some of those versions were slightly different and slightly better but I still would give Chinese Democracy a no thank you on a scale of 1-10. Riad and the bedouins and I.R.S. were ok... But hey, it's just opinion....no right or wrong. I was just curious though....I have nothing against matt Sorum's playing. He just always seemed a little too mechanical. Than again, I saw him play with motorhead 2 or 3 yrs ago and he was phenomenal. I can live with matt sorum but would prefer Adler. Axl was, at one time a great front man....raw and great stage presence but that ended around 1988 for me anyway. I don't think a reunion would ever work without Izzy....he wrote alot with Axl. I don't think it's a coincidence that Izzy left, GNR put out an album of all covers, and then it took Axl so long to ever finish Chinese Democracy. Maybe i'm overstating Izzy's importance, but to me that band is nothing without him. I always felt like songs like Estranged were the downfall of GNR. I would have been perfectly happy with sleazy rock and roll.....stick to the format. I know alot of bands like to evolve but I never needed GNR to. ACDC stuck to the format all these years, sure alot of their riffs sound alike but I still enjoy the piss out of them. I gotta ask you though Binnie, why didn't they ever release Shadow of your Love? That was a killer tune....I know it started as a Hollywood rose tune but so did a few others which were released.

Just remembered the support band were 'Thin Lizzy'.

So out of the 14 people on stage that night 10 were stand-ins.

I think Shadow of Your Love got pulled from Appetite because the tempo it was too similar to "You're Fucking Crazy". Which ironically was originally a much slower song (as it was on Lies).

Shadow of Your Love is also included on the "Live From The Jungle" EP which was only released in Japan as far as this Devil knows.

If you can get past what you 'think a GNR should sound like' then you might enjoy Chinese Democracy. Nothing was worth waiting that long for, but there's some great stuff on it (and some patchy stuff too) - I just hate the fact that people let their feelings for Axl get in the way of the music (there's a review on page 13 of the Album Reviews thread if you're interested).

Totally agree about Izzy - coolest guy in GNR and crucial in his role both as a foil for Axl AND SLASH (his licks were the other half of the sound, y'know?). He made it clear in 1992 that he'd had enough, however, so there's no sense in dreaming about him joining this line up. I can't help thinking that Gilby would be a good second choice. Same with Sorum, really - why would anyone want to risk taking the train wreck to end all train wrecks that is Steven Adler on tour?

I saw this 'Thin Lizzy' line up on tour a couple of years ago. Despite my cynicism, they were fucking incredible - totally respectful of Lynot and the music (Warwick's voice really works on those tunes) and they kicked the shit out of some of the best rock 'n' roll songs ever written. The reason it worked is because no one was pretending that it was anything that it wasn't.

I actually reckon that 'GNR' will have had a hard time following 'em....

I have seen clips of "GnR" online with Bucketface or whatever he's called playing guitar and I have seen Slash in person with Myles Kennedy singing and I hate to break it to Axl, but HE is the one who has been replaced, regardless of who is parading around masquerading as Guns and Roses.

Guns N' Roses ban fans from wearing Slash t-shirts to their UK gigs

The division between Guns N' Roses' current line-up and their former members is well documented, with the fallout between singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash particularly infamous.

However, the current line-up's management team have taken extreme steps to distance themselves from their classic version, by banning anyone coming to their UK tour from wearing a Slash t-shirt.

During the band's gig at London's O2 Arena last night (May 31), an NME source noticed that a member of the crowd was bare-chested under his jacket. When asked why, 18-year old James Revell said he was told to remove his top because no one was allowed in wearing a Slash T-shirt.

The source then asked security if this was the case and was told by a member of the venue's team: "We were told by the management not to allow anyone into the O2 Arena who is wearing a Slash T-shirt and we are asking anyone who is to remove it and if they refuse they will be turned away."

Then asked what about the people sitting at the back who cannot be seen from the stage, the security guard replied: "This is what we were told."

Speaking to NME today (June 1) about his ordeal, Revell described what had happened. He said: "I felt very angry because I was looking after my little brotther at the time and felt as though my freedom to wear what I want had been taken away from me, however i did not react angrily as I didn't want to spoil the show for him."

Then asked why he thought the band had acted in this manner he said: "I believe they asked me to do this because Axl Rose has some problem with Slash and if he saw me wearing the shirt he might have stormed off stage."

Revell then spoke of his anger about the request and revealed that the band were also so late onstage that he only saw three songs.

He added: "I have never experienced anything as insulting as that at a concert before and I had to sit there in my little brothers jumper and wait for Axl to turn up well over an hour late, which we could only stay to watch 3 songs as we had to catch a train back. I think that Axl Rose doesn't appreciate his fans or anyone for that matter, he needs to grow up and stop acting like a child."

As well as this, the band have been roundly criticised on their UK tour for their late starts, even taking to the stage at 11.15pm in Manchester on Tuesday (May 29).

Guns N' Roses end their UK tour tonight (June 1) with a second show at London's O2 Arena.
hope they come to berlin! I get into the O2 arena for free and I will smuggle in a banner that says "Slash is GnR"...can't wait to see that fat crybabyfuck run off stage!
