I don't buy the argument either, really. But it runs something like this: porn objectifies women, making them less than people but rather objects whose sole purpose is to fulfill male demands (many of which are somewhat 'violent' - sodomy/gagging etc). This has the potential to lessen empathy, and because it is addictive, runs the risk of making sexual gratification harder to attain without 'copying' porn.

Personally, I think that argument relies on the men in question not being able to separate fantasy from reality. Perhaps it amplifies violent tendencies where they already exist, but I'm not sure it could be proven to instil them.

I think the only downside to porn is it lures underage people to participate for the lure of making some fast money. If they turn their lives around later, the stigma of porn stays with them. The opposite of that argument is that porn is no longer a stigma, but really a smart career move for people to make a great deal of money early in life.
