The Ponsonby name has an interesting history. The Ponsonbys were actually Lords a few hundred years ago. There is also a small village called Ponsonby, which was given to my ancestors by Richard The...I forget which, but he did.

The SHEEP PEN has been moved by one person to non-MUSIC. The move hasn't been approved by all parties, and it can still be moved back. But we need support. Could you go to the following thread and post that you want it moved back to MAIN? Also, could you get anyone else you can think of to also post in that thread, asking it to go back to MAIN? It's the biggest thread in the site's history and it's been a great place for shearing sheep and having lots of fun. We're worked really hard on it and it would be a super-favor if you and anyone else you can think of could post in there asking the Webmasters to move it back. It doesn't have to be an angry post...just a request and maybe a statement of how much you love the Pen. We need all the support we can get right now.

BLACK N' BLUE is one of my favorite Van Hagar songs. I like it so much because it is much rawer and reminds me of the Dave days. It's not nearly as polished as some of the other "corporate" stuff. It is probably the main reason OU812 is my favorite Van Hagar album. It's great to know that I'm not the only one who loves the song!

As for CAN'T GET THIS STUFF NO MORE, the music was apparently written and recorded during the BALANCE sessions as "BACKDOOR SHUFFLE." Dave recorded new vocals over it for the BEST OF (ME WISE MAGIC was brand new), and Hagar apparently later sued the band because Dave slightly borrowed the melody on the chorus from Sam's original vocal (he had an out-of-court settlement for $5000).

I agree. BLACK N' BLUE really was the last time the band released a hardcore rock n' roll single until HUMANS BEING, ME WISE MAGIC, and possibly WITHOUT YOU.”

I'm talking the '77 demos, outtakes from the Dave albums (I know for a fact there are a few unreleased and probably finished songs from DIVER DOWN and 1984 and probably one or two that have been written about from VH II), plus alternate takes or versions from these albums. Then you can move on to live stuff...there was apparently a 1984 live album that was recorded and partially mixed. Put some of that on this set (or ALL of it). Then move on to 5150 and the other albums, all having unreleased songs (there are maybe six from F.U.C.K., "I Want Some Action" from 5150 and a few from BALANCE). Get BETWEEN US TWO on a record finally, throw in the outtakes from VH3 and the second MACH III album if you have to, then close it off with the three tracks recorded with Dave in 2000. Done! That's more than enough for a box set if you throw in some retrospective live material and maybe a couple of Eddie demos.

This is what the fans deserve.
