Trump often forgets these "Bigger and Better" projects need to be profitable. Something his "Best Casino Ever" Taj Mahal didn't do. In the OO's, sky scrapers are profitable up to 80 stories. Past that and you hit diminishing returns. Also upper stories sway in the wind more and make the people who work in them uncomfortable. Also, who is going to rent space in something that looks like the original towers? It would only remind people of the tragedy of 911.

No a new design is the way to go and the Freedom Tower will be world class in it's own right. The so called empty skelleton is full of asthetically pleasing wind mills and the building will actually have the capability of generating it's own electricity. The shape of the building will compliment the surrounding skyline and tie in with the statue of liberty and Brooklyn bridge.

The World Trade Center was a massive 1960's design. To be honest, I never thought they were that asthetically pleasing.

I think the Freedom Tower is a good compromise. It's a modern design that serves the function of rentable space, a memorial, and also a symbol of moving on from Sept. 11.

A lot of high tech thought has gone into the towers design to where it will reflect light a certain way, in certain conditions. The electricity generating windmills from a distance will give the building a unique effect of being dynamic instead of just a dead box in the air.

Trump just wants to use other people's money to build 25 more stories of unprofitable space. At least the Freedom Tower uses this space to generate something profitable and also look asthetic as well. It's a brilliant design in many ways.

I wish people were a little more forward looking as opposed to just the knee-jerk defiance people associate with revenge.

I actually think they should go beyond "Freedom Tower' and build the world's largest freestanding structure with an emphasis on entertainment and gaming; the tourist dollars alone would justify this in the end. Maybe then, upstate New York wouldn't have to subsidize NYC's fucking football stadiums (among other things).

As a New Yorker, I want the towers rebuilt, but with one slight adjustment. make the top floor of 1 of the towers the new UN headquarters and the top of the other one home to all the foreign consulates of middle eastern countries

I think the owners should come up with a final few designs and have the people of NYC vote on it. Not that it has to be the way they vote, but it would give them a clear indication of what the people really want.

I'm fine with whatever they want to do. It's their city and their building to do as they please.

BTW, living in freedom, at as high a standard as your pursuit of happiness allows, is the best revenge....
