As a resident of the greater NYC area, a former resident of NYC, and someone who has grown up seeing the towers my whole life, I must say that I would love to see them back. At the same time I am on the fence on this one, I do like the new design for the proposed site, but I would love to see them back stronger than ever....

I agree with the sentiment about rebuilding them, but I do wonder about filling them. Companies wouldn't want the terrorist risk or the good ol' NYC expense. Many companies are happy with their much less expensive offices outside of the city.

I'm not a fan of the current plan. Rebuilding them with 1 extra floor would be an awesome "bird" to those that thought they could stifle the American Spirit.

That being said...Don has had more bankruptcies and still is looked upon as someone that has viable property management ideas.

That's IT!! It just hit me. It should be rebuilt as it was, but not as an office complex. It should be STUFFED, bottom to top with stuff that will drive them crazy. Ultimate Americana stuff. You know, a casino, a steakhouse, a diner, an amusement park, a strip club or four...build the Mall of America VERTICALLY. Except we found out that "Islamic Fundimentalist" suicide-hijackers are hypo'wits that enjoy "strip clubs" and alcohol. So they'd have to destroy our pop-culture that they hate so much next time.

The Strip club would be a little tackey, hell the whole Idea is. But I can't see businesses moving back into a complex there as office space.

And of course there should be a small, non-denominational shrine as the memorial. A lot of Jews & Muslims were inside those bldg's as well...

Tackey? Ok, fine , we will make it classy and call it "burlesque". Perhaps if it is all the things they secretly enjoy, maybe they will take it easy with this building next time...

The idea isn't tackey to me. It actually is very symbolic. Perhaps a strip club is, if we want to be hypocritical about what freedom is, but I could understand that. I just think the use of the building should be a testament to all the things that freedom entails and provides us.

If a strip club doesn't float your boat, how about a liberal newspaper (I walk away from all jokes at the moment), or several with opposing points of view, a few churches of various denominations, a DMV,....your basic garden variety bill of rights type businesses...
