I've actually have seen small jets crash close up and in person. After that fireball erupts of burning jet fuel, there is not going to be a whole lot of aluminum fuselage left. And these were aircraft falling straight down, not powered and streaking forward like a "missile" (after a collision of two US Navy BLUE ANGELs, A-4 Skyhawks)

I saw the craters a couple of days later on the local news, I can tell you those planes did indeed crash...
