Technically, the jury did their job. As a lawyer yourself, you know that the standard is not whether or not they believe OJ is guilty - as they legally aren't supposed to have an opinion one way or the other - but whether the prosecution proved their case.

That's not the standard, actually, but it doesn't really matter. The fact is that the jury believed that the racist conspiracy theories were sufficient to create "reasonable doubt." The prosecution made some horrible decisions (namely, not attempting to admit into evidence OJ's freeway chase and certain incriminating comments made by OJ at the time of his arrest), but ultimately, the prosecution proved its case, in my opinion. The DNA evidence in particular -- HELLO! Non-celebrities are convicted in these types of cases every day.
