Call me crazy, I agree with BoF here. It's NOT enough to sit back and say the USA has fucked up. We DO have to get out there and do our part (beyond voting every couple of years) to fix what we all have said asre mistakes and -dare I say it - evils - perpetrated by our country. Doesn't matter if you didn't vote for the man occupying the White House. Doesn't matter if you did and feel that you've been hoodwinked. Armchair politicians and apologists and complainers solve nothing. The question of what you can do for your country goes beyond paying taxes and/or having the attitude of "The government should fix this." No. WE should, step by tedious necessary step.Comment

And yes, Abbie was COMPLETE window-dressing, albeit highly entertaining. What did he really accomplish? A diversion, much like the nude protesters at the RNC convention in NYC in '04. Made a mockery of what he believed in. No, just reading the paper each day - and not a tabloid, but the NY Times or (the possibly late) The Wall St Journal, anything that is known for its reporting and integrity, where the past couple of days OJ wasn't on the front page. Community service, donating time and money to causes, whether its the arts or the neediest. Being informed comes first. What you choose to do with that information next.RIM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment

But ultimately, being informed comes down to making better voting choices.
