Let's just keep the status quo because that's working so well for the average American.

It just seems to fly right over their heads that health costs in this country are rising to the point where the average American and the backbone of this country, Small Businesses can't afford coverage.

So let's just say fuck 'em to the people who can't afford coverage and let's get rid of small businesses, too. Better yet let's keep small businesses but make it so no one wants to work for them and if you do it's only till you can get a big corporate job.

What we need to do is make it easy for the ones who want to work here. Get 'em ID'd and onto the tax rolls. Fine or shut down the employers who hire illegals and make the fines stiff enough that it isn't cost effective to hire the illegals.

Unless you're 100% Native American your relatives were immigrants at some point and they had to register to come into this country.

What the fuck, I'll just say it.

It's morally reprehensible for the health industry to be allowed to be a for-profit endeavor. No one should be able to profit from another person's suffering or be able to profit at the expense of another man's health, or their ability to remain healthy.

It is a travesty that this has been allowed to go on at all and incomprehensible that it has in fact gone on for so long. It should be non-profit, it should be regulated and it should never have gotten to this point.

I am all in favor of people (doctors, nurses, staff) being fairly compensated for their work and talents. But I don't think it should come at the expense of someone else's ability to survive. And I don't think insurance should be allowed to be run for profit.

Exactly. It's a money and power grab and nothing more. They don't have the money to keep their promises and they are too incomptetant to run it. You bet they are going to go for immigration amnesty. They are going to have the taxes beyond what people can pay and then what? Interest bearing tax bills? It looks like Washington is saying "Let them eat cake." While people's lively hoods are being ruined by job losses, inflation, taxes, and government abuse. I haven't seen this much anger in the population since the 1960's. People are pretty fat, dumb, happy, and passive when they have the illusion of getting rich quick in stocks and real estate and the banks loan to anyone. When you are in a economic depression that mood suddenly changes. Like the roaring 20's the roaring 90's and early 00's have ended. The crash happened in 2008 with the failure of AIG, Leman Brothers, Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, and Merrill Lynch. Instead of letting these loser fail the taxpayer bailed them out and they bought some time, but now in 2010 the TARP money will run out and we will be at 2008 again but with a big debt load on it. More failures with a huge healthcare load now. Add in a devalued US Dollar and we are in a situation worst than the Great Depression. No production capacity, the biggest amount of debt in world history, a lazy population that does not know how to work, and the most corrupt politicians and business leaders in US history. 100% pure shit.

Last year 900 000 people in the US went bankrupt due to medical bills. Of those most were educated homeowners and 78% of them had medical insurance.

If I lived in the US I would find that unacceptable. Medical bankruptcy is unheard of in the rest of the western world.
