Is it? Then why are alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, SPAM and Funyuns legal? It can't be because the government is concerned about the long-term health benefits provided by each. Look, you don't want to have meth, heroin or ecstasy available in tablet form in a handy dispenser resembling a package of TicTacs next to the condoms and porn mags down at the local inconvenience store. Duh, I get that. But if a lunkhead can buy a quart of whiskey at his local Walgreen's any day of the week, why is it so far-fetched to allow the sale of marijuana if it is government regulated, sold like cigarettes and taxed to high heaven?
Whose country is this?

Actually, that would pretty much guarantee they were NOT an "illegal". No self-respecting Mexican would be caught dead eating a 7-11 burrito. Or Taco Hell, for that matter.Eat Us And Smile

That much is true. Anthony Bourdain recently offered a very revealing portrait of Mexican food (in particular the street vendors) on No Reservations that was mind-blowing. The fare looked simply amazing, and to refer to the crummy, cheese-covered "Americanized" versions of the stuff as being "Mexican" food is a crime.

Some of the best Mexican food I ever had was in this little place in Moses Lake WA. This is a town right in the middle of the eastern Washington state farming area, so there's a large Mexican population in the area (I wouldn't begin to know the percentage of legal vs illegal vs seasonal vs permanent vs whatever)
Might have even been better than the Mexican restaurants in Tucson.Eat Us And Smile

Mexico is and interesting mix of European and native cooking. What we know as Mexican is actually Tex Mex. The upper class out of Mexico City eat very European. When I was in Cozemel scuba diving we would spear fish and a Mexican cook prepared them with lime, salt, spices and they were fabulous! That being said, sadly most Mexicans live off of beans, rice, and corn tortias. Any mean is a bonus. Having chicken with your meal is a Sunday bonus. Mexico is a good example of what a corrupt government does to a beautiful country with many resources. A few live very rich and most live poor. That much is true.
