No one said they had to be happy about it. In fact, I would think most of them would think twice before ever running with the Amendment in place. If you are a well adjusted person, you would just shrug. But, the Government is happy to film you, you saying you have a problem with Government being documented as well?

On a side note, as I was walking to work today, the Google Maps Camera car (A Geo Metro as it happened) drove right around me as it turned the corner.....I held my jacket in from of my face the whole time as soon as I saw it, partly just for fun, and partly for the principle of it. Lol that would be applicable if this was Neilson rated but, I think you might not have read the Amendment as proposed. This would never air....so sorry, no TV ratings until about 50-60 years later (if we still have TVs).

What still amazes me is that everyone ignores the United Nations findings and what Hans Blix said........."I have my detractors in Washington. There are bastards who spread things around, of course, who planted nasty things in the media".

Blix's statements about the Iraq WMD program came to contradict the claims of the George W. Bush administration, and attracted a great deal of criticism from supporters of the invasion of Iraq. In an interview on BBC TV on 8 February 2004, Dr. Blix accused the US and British governments of dramatising the threat of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, in order to strengthen the case for the 2003 war against the regime of Saddam Hussein. Ultimately, no stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction were found.
          Link

What are the source documents? What report showed that Iraq had the WMD. Where's the proof?

Scott Ritter also said there were no weapons. Of course the right wing knew they couldn't debate him, since he was actually THERE, so they manufactured a scandal and tried to paint him as a Pedobear to silence him. Very similar to how they're trying to paint Julian Assange as a "rapist", even though Sweden defines "rape" as consensual sex without a condom.

It's really not all that different than Ken $tarr going after Clinton for getting his dick sucked because he couldn't find anything else. It's always the default card for the Repukes - go for the sex scandal.

Interesting that the mafia, muscle, dictator, President Vladimir Putin would international democratic leader voices in support for WikiLeaks' boss Julian Assange in the same sentence. Everyone knows that if if 250,000 of Putin's diplomatic wires were being published over the internet, not just Assange, but all the parties involved, would be facing overnight Russian hit squads, rather than police detention before the night was out. Besides, I thought the "cold war" was no longer being promoted by either the Russians or the American any more. Guess I am wrong. I doubt the Russian are experienced enough to use Visa, Master Card or PayPal, but I know they would not care about public opinion on the effectiveness of their hit squads selection of tools. Besides, is this one of only the few times Russian citizens were allowed to protest in the streets on an international issue, even in these times. I could almost be proud of them if I thought their protest issues expressed originated and with Russian citizens.

Putin leads backlash over WikiLeaks boss detention

by Maria Antonova – 43 mins ago

MOSCOW (AFP) – Vladimir Putin on Thursday led a growing band of international leaders voicing support for WikiLeaks' boss Julian Assange, describing his detention in Britain as "undemocratic".

The Russian prime minister's broadside came as hackers escalated their cyber war on opponents of the whistleblower website, setting their sights on Amazon.com.

"Why was Mr. Assange hidden in jail? Is that democracy? As we say in the village: the pot is calling the kettle black," Putin said in response to a question on Russia's undemocratic image in US embassy cables leaked by the website.

His comments echoed Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who expressed "solidarity" with Assange, blasting the Australian activist's arrest as a blow against "freedom of expression."

Assange has "exposed a diplomacy that had appeared unreachable," said Lula, who criticized the failure of other governments to challenge Assange's detention.

"They have arrested him and I don't hear so much as a single protest for freedom of expression," he said.

Anonymous, the loose-knit group of hackers behind the cyber attacks, announced an assault on the Amazon website for 1600 GMT as part of "Operation Payback."

The move appeared to be part of a developing tit-for-tat cyber conflict targeting companies in reprisal for withdrawing from doing business with WikiLeaks.

Amazon last week booted WikiLeaks off its servers, saying the company had violated its terms of service.

Visa, Mastercard and PayPal earlier suffered disruption to their websites in retaliation for their decision to stop accepting payments for the whistleblower, which rocked global diplomacy last week by dumping 250,000 secret US embassy cables onto its website.

Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, hit out at pressure being exerted on "private companies, banks and credit card companies" to cut commercial ties to WikiLeaks.

"They could be interpreted as an attempt to censor the publication of information, thus potentially violating WikiLeaks' right to freedom of expression," she told a press conference in Geneva.

Anonymous told AFP in an online chat they would attack anyone they perceive as having an "anti-WikiLeaks agenda."

The Swedish government's website was forced offline as was the Swedish proscutor's office.

Organisers told AFP they had started with only around 50 users taking part in the distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks that bombard websites to take them offline, but now had around 4,000.

"We recruit through the Internet, that means, everywhere: imageboards, forums, Facebook, Twitter... you name it, we're using it," they said.

Twitter and Facebook later removed accounts for the Anonymous group's "Operation Payback" campaign on the grounds that it was targeting individuals.

WikiLeaks distanced itself from the group in a statement, saying it had no affiliation with Anonymous.

WikiLeaks' Kristinn Hrafnsson said the attacks "are of a similar nature to those received, and endured" by the website over the past week.
"We neither condemn nor applaud these attacks. We believe they are a reflection of public opinion on the actions of the targets."

Members of Anonymous also took aim on Wednesday at the websites of US conservative standard bearer Sarah Palin and US Senator Joe Lieberman, who called for US companies to withdraw technical support for WikiLeaks.

Assange's supporters have vowed the arrest will not halt the flow of secrets, with the latest revelations causing more embarrassment for Washington.

The most explosive came in an assessment by Johnnie Carson, the US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, who illustrated the tensions caused by China's increasing involvement in resource-rich Africa.

"China is a very aggressive and pernicious economic competitor with no morals. China is not in Africa for altruistic reasons," Carson said in a February meeting with oil executives in Nigeria.

Other cables showed Washington put intense pressure on Berlin to not enforce arrest warrants against CIA agents involved in the 2003 abduction of a German citizen mistakenly believed to be a terrorist.

Putin, despite his defence of Assange on Thursday, has been portrayed in an embarrassing light by some of the leaked cables. In one, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called him a "behind the scenes puppeteer" dissatisfied with his role.

Others detailed allegations of high-level Russian corruption and referred to Putin as an "alpha dog".

                        Protests, cyber-skirmishes rage over WikiLeak

By RAPHAEL G. SATTER and JILL LAWLESS, Associated Press – 18 mins ago

LONDON – Skirmishes raged across cyberspace Thursday between WikiLeaks supporters and the companies they accuse of trying to stifle the group, with websites on both sides of the battle line taken out of service or choked off by attacks.

The U.N.'s top human rights official raised the alarm over officials' and corporations' moves to cut off WikiLeaks's funding and starve it of server space — something she described as a "potentially violating WikiLeaks' right to freedom of expression."

Navi Pillay also expressed surprise at the scale of the online attacks that have targeted major American financial players — in some cases denying access to their websites for hours at a time.

"It's truly what media would call a cyber-war. It's just astonishing what is happening," Pillay, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, told reporters in Geneva.

WikiLeaks has been under intense pressure since it began publishing some 250,000 U.S. State Department cables, with attacks on its websites and threats against its founder, Julian Assange, who is now in a British jail fighting extradition to Sweden on sex crime allegations.

U.S. officials say WikiLeaks' actions have thrown diplomacy worldwide into disarray, caused countries to curtail their dealings with America and, in the case of an earlier release of classified military documents, put the lives of informants at risk.

The Obama administration has put intense pressure on U.S.-based Internet companies to cut any ties to WikiLeaks, and many have done so, including MasterCard Inc., Visa Inc., Amazon.com, PayPal Inc. and EveryDNS. Those moves have hurt WikiLeaks' ability to accept donations and support publishing efforts — and touched off a bout of Web-based warfare.

Retaliatory attacks — which WikiLeaks says it does not sanction — have been claimed by a loose-knit group of "hacktivists" who gather under the handle "Anonymous."

They are using a modified version of software generally used to conduct "stress testing" on websites, according to Paul Mutton, an analyst with London-based internet research and security company Netcraft, which is tracking the attacks.

The technique allows even unsophisticated supporters to participate in attacks because all they have to do is download the file, which is then remotely operated to send a stream of bogus page requests to target websites.

Mutton said the number of computers spewing out spam had jumped from 400 to 2,000 machines on Wednesday — relatively small numbers, he said, but still apparently enough to overwhelm MasterCard and Visa.

"I've been surprised at how effective its been," he said. "You don't need huge numbers of people to carry out an attack like that."

The surprise was shared by Internet activist Gregg Housh, who is involved with Anonymous. "I was surprised Visa and MasterCard went down," he told The Associated Press.

Housh said Anonymous members targeted the companies because they cut ties with WikiLeaks "for what we consider false and made-up reasons. How can you drop someone for illegal activities when there's no proof they've done anything?"

That was a concern shared by Pillay, who said if WikiLeaks had broken the law "then this should be handled through the legal system and not through pressure and intimidation, including on third parties.

WikiLeaks supporters in Switzerland and Germany have threatened lawsuits against U.S. financial companies who have cut their ties to the website, while judicial authorities in France have put the breaks on the French government's effort to purge WikiLeaks from the country's computer servers.
The Germany-based Wau Holland Foundation, which has described itself as WikiLeaks' main backer, on Thursday protested PayPal's decision to cut ties with WikiLeaks and said about euro10,000 ($13,000) in donations had been frozen in the company's account.

The foundation rejected PayPal's allegation it was supporting illegal activity and said its lawyer had demanded that PayPal restore access to the account.

WikiLeaks' payment processor, DataCell ehf, said it was preparing to sue Visa and MasterCard over their refusal to process donations to WikiLeaks. DataCell CEO Andreas Fink said he would seek damages from the U.S. credit card companies over it, saying "it is simply ridiculous to think WikiLeaks has done anything criminal."

Housh said the number of computers at Anonymous' disposal was rising rapidly, now about 3,000 strong. But he also said that supporters were running out of anti-WikiLeaks targets.

"So far today, no one has stood up and said, 'Me next,'" he said, noting that some companies threatened by online action — such as Twitter and Amazon.com, were considered too powerful to bring down.

Meanwhile the flow of online support has also sparked some solidarity on the streets. A protest in Australia — the first of a series planned there and in Britain — sent about 250 demonstrators into the streets of Brisbane, while in the central Pakistani city of Multan, dozens of people took to the streets to burn U.S. and British flags to protest Assange's detention.

Organizer Tariq Naeemullah called for the Australian's immediate release.
"The brave man was arrested because he was exposing the real face of the big powers," he said.

More pro-WikiLeaks protests are planned for Friday in Brisbane and Monday in London.

Sweden defines "rape" as consensual sex without a condom.
No wonder Yngwie left that country.

                              The internet is funny sometimes.

I read your post and looked and it's all over the internet without anyone giving it even a tiny thought.

If consensual sex without a condom was rape then there would be no babies in Sweden.

It seems that he is accused of having sex without a condom while she was asleep which is different thing.

                              More details here.
