The banker bailouts cost more than the wars did and compared to the wars providing healthcare would be cheap. The money isn't in providing the medical care. The money is in selling the insurance. Why do you think Warren Buffet owns insurance companies. There is no government healthcare. The government is just forcing you to buy private insurance and the government will micromanage every aspect of how the healthcare system is ran. It won't just be you and your doctor. Uncle Sam will have his finger up your ass too.
Supremes Uphold Health Care Law

I never had a problem with healthcare until the prices of the insurance skyrocketed. I can remember when people just bought a policy or their employers provided benefits and nobody even thought about healthcare costs. In the late 80's and early 90's, health insurance was cheap and I had great coverage. Insurance prices started to skyrocket just about the same time college tuition and home prices did. All these prices are rigged for a calculated result. It's financial warfare and it's being waged against us.No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

I have no doubt that Bernie is thinking strategically with his Vermont plan. The Canadian system started in one province (Saskatchewan) and grew from there. That's probably what would happen here eventually, but there's an inherent flaw in doing it that way.
The one logical thing about the "mandate" is that it recognizes the reality that an insurance system works best, and costs least, when everybody is in the same "pool". The more people you have paying into the system, the smaller the percentage needs to be paid out in coverage. What's wrong with the way RomneyObamaOpieCare does this is that it puts the pool in the hand of for profit corporations and they take 40% off the top to pay a rich pig CEO and then try to make excuses to NOT pay claims.
A national NOT for Profit pool is therefore the only logical solution, as the Canadians eventually figured out.No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

#FOXfail, #CNNfail
It was FOX News and CNN's "Dewey Defeats Truman" moment.
Reporting the Supreme Court's decision on Obama's health care law, both CNN and Fox News rushed dead-wrong headlines on-air.
CNN and Fox News violated the first rule of journalism: get it first but get it right.
The individual mandate had been "struck down" in "a dramatic blow to the policy and to the President, politically," CNN's John King breathlessly reported. "Wow, that's a dramatic moment," CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer responded, "if in fact the Supreme Court has ruled that the individual mandate is in fact unconstitutional, that would be history unfolding right now."

Fox News announcer Bill Hemmer: “We have breaking news here on the Fox News Channel, the individual mandate has been ruled unconstitutional. This was a part of the law that was at the center of the oral arguments three months ago on this day when the justices hammered away at the White House and the administration's attorney, questioning the validity of the individual mandate and asking the following pointed question: if you can legislate healthcare, where can the federal government be stopped?”
Banner on FOX News: “Supreme Court finds health care individual mandate unconstitutional”.
Buzzfeed is reporting that CNN staffers are "on the verge of open revolt" over the network's incompetence:
“Fucking humiliating,” said one CNN veteran. “We had a chance to cover it right. And some people in here don’t get what a big deal getting it wrong is. Morons.”
“Shameful,” another long-time correspondent told BuzzFeed.
"It's outrageous and embarrassing,” a third CNN staffer vented. “Maybe this will shake the company into understanding that CNN has not been the 'most trusted name in news' for a very long time."

...and even now, a lot of the tax dollars paid by those of us in the more populous (and usually "blue" states) end up going to the lesser populated rural "red" states.
So that could mean the smaller states would suffer without a national system. Ironically, they would still vote against it if KKKarl Rove and the NRA told them to.No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Yup. I don't see it as socialized medicine. I see it as the insurance industry buying politicians using the IRS to force us to pay for their overprices insurance. Right now the government isn't serving the people it's serving corporations right when we need some banking and anti-trust regulation badly. It's not a good situation. No! What are you going to do, force the kids of Senators/Congressmen into the military?

I just had a lady the other day that Medicare disapproved a request for a machine and a treatment that would allow her to possibly regain full use of the muscles in her arms. You see, "Death Panels" is a rather extreme phrase but in some cases it fits.
Medicare is not a blank check for every medical treatment and test under the sun. It is strictly controlled, by an entity made up of medical professionals...and bean counters. Medicare does not approve everything and that which they do approve they only pay 80%. PRIVATE INSURANCE usually covers the rest.“If bullshit was currency, Joe Biden would be a billionaire.” - George W. BushComment
