Well, does restricting illegal drugs keep drugs off the streets ??

Let's say guns were banned world wide. The black market for guns and ammo would explode into a huge underground crime ring, turning law abiding citizens into criminals (as far as the government is concerned) overnight...

dude, europe has far stricter gun laws and far less gun crime. seriously.

would SOME people still have illegal guns? yes. but far less than they have now. which would likely mean far less gun crime.

My weapon in the Army was an M-60. Not really that heavy. I think 12 pounds or so. Lotsa fun to fire. A bitch to carry around all day. Had a lot of fun out on the firing range at Ft. Lewis...trying to cut targets in half.


And the reasons the M16A2 has a 3-shot burst setting are as follows:

1. They teach you in the military to fire 3 shot bursts instead of just holding the trigger down so as to make it more difficult for the enemy to determine where you are shooting from.
2. Shooting only 3 shots at a time, you will make your ammo supply last longer.
3. Your weapon will not have to be cleaned quite so often as you will be shooting less ammo.
4. People with belt-fed weapons tend to fire more continuously, and the enemy will focus on trying to take out the heavy machine-guns......so you make EVERYONE fire 3-shot bursts so as to make it more difficult for the enemy to determine which soldiers are shooting the heavy stuff vs assault rifles.
Yes I know, one does not exactly sound like the other, but in the heat of battle, anything to confuse your opponent for even a moment is a good thing.

I got to play with an M16A2 for a while one day on the range. It was pretty neat.

And, whether the round tumbles or not, you do not want to be hit by one, as they ARE high-velocity rounds and even if it is not tumbling at all, any exit-wound is going to tear out a massive chunk of your body.

Personally, I prefer an AK. Simply because they are more reliable.

You talk to people who have worked years in the Federal Government and they will just say the government agency heads treat the Senators and Congressmen like they are nobodies. In fact, in some agencies they have rules employees can't talk to elected officials without permission and they have unions so they can't be fired. Some agencies are even incorporated in Delaware or Puerto Rico.

Either the elected officials do nothing because they don't have the balls or they have been bought off. The House of Representatives has some weight to throw around because they can defund these agencies but they never cut the purse strings.

As one person in the Department of Energy told me one time we don't have a government but we have governments.

He's somewhat of an improvement over Asscrotch or Speedy Gonzales (the guy who ACTUALLY invented the gun bullshit in Mexico thing). But certainly not the type of AG we really needed in office right now..... someone not afraid to take on corporate felons and wall street mafia types.

Unfortunately, the two most likely candidates who meet that description were John Edwards and Elliot Spitzer. And they were eliminated from consideration on the grounds that they both liked pussy too much.
