I'm heading over to Singapore in about a week so I've been reading their news and wondered what the take on gay marriage is there. It's actually illegal for gay men to have sex even if it consensual but it's legal for women to have gay sex. They have a marriage law that if a foreign gay couple come into the country; technically, they can be arrested. The whole worry is China just unclassified homosexuality as a mental illness and is moving to be more gay friendly. Singapore and China compete for business. Singapore is wondering how many key business people around the world are gay and if they are going to have to change their laws in order to not hurt business. Then if they do become more gay friendly that will ruffle the feathers of various religious groups there. Especially muslims.

It was in one of their newspapers that the US has a tendancy to adapt to the wishes of minority groups who organize and want something so they are already saying we probably will have legally gay marriage in this country so they are trying to figure out what to do.

Overall the view over there is the west has gone completely crazy. They are amazed what we argue over when we have such serious financial problems. They think north America and Europe have gone completely nuts. But they think the west will eventually accept gay marriage and now they are going oh shit, what are we going to do about this? We don't want to change our laws but if China or Taiwan become more friendly to gays, the western business will go to those countries. Oh shit, we had it so good, we have our utopia and it works. We can fine people who spit on the sidewalk $30. We can cane vandals. The nation is spotlessly clean and the Singapore girls take good care of you on those long flights on Singapore airlines.
