Statutory rape can only be leveled by the parents I believe ( maybe the state, if the person involved complains and that is usually after they are broken up with and mad at boyfriend etc..) he went to them and asked for thier blessing I believe probably after he made it with her, I would bet.

The age of concent in America is 15 or 14 in most states none of the states over 16 for the age of concent.
