Rather than blame it on "illegal handguns", why are you ignoring why "illegal handguns" exist?

Nobody should be able to buy a gun without a proper background check.

Nobody should be able to buy a gun online at all.

Nobody should be able to buy any guns without also buying a gun safe and/or other means with which to properly secure the weapon.

Do those three things and "illegal guns" will cease to exist. Then what will your excuse be?

ok - great I agree with you - but ...

how to undo what has been done - how to rid the streets of illegal handguns ? can we go door to door in the inner city where gangs are and search every house knowing that most gang members come from the minority communities in inner cities ?

What law that already exists makes an illegal gun legal ?

Why do we need more laws - why not enforce the ones we have ? & now lets get circular

Online sales shouldn't be an issue. Online dealers (at least the ones I've dealt with) will only ship to a FFL where the background check happens.

& how to get illegal guns that are already in circulation out of circulation ... that is the real question that needs to be addressed -not by you or me here & now - but by the minority community where most thug/drug crime is and law enforcement / judicial branch that lets violent offenders off too easily
