She was fired for exposing the company to publicity they didn't want, damaging their image. Now they have to contend with customers wondering what the staff will post on reddit/facebook/wherever. For a company trying to manage its imagine, uncontrolled events like this by employees lead to termination.

She should have known better than to post it, and this was a foregone conclusion as soon as she did. If she hadn't mentioned what restaurant she worked at, or posted the picture, she probably would have been fine just telling an anecdotal story. Actions have consequences, even unpleasant ones.
