* Admittedly I'm speculating on the dead woman's motives here, but if she was not currently working, due to her mental issues, and was on WIC for her child as a result, that might have very well been what triggered her actions.

Your understanding of the Founding Fathers and their documents is lacking. Had you chose to further your education in the matter you would've found that instead of social engineering the issues they were pressed to create a nation that would sort itself out. They were busy carving out a nation instead of giving you a minimum wage! They didn't want the government to get in the way of commerce though and believed in a "hands off" approach. They wanted the marketplace to decide what is a fair price and how much you get paid should depend on your talents not what some union is going to pay you or you'd be free to move on and better yourself. There were several statesmen that understood and voiced their opinion on every issue you raised. Instead, you choose to bash them over the head when what they gave you, me and every entitled US citizen was a "blueprint" of Freedom. Their dream was alive and well. Everything you curse them for was changed using their "blueprint". Some issues took longer than others, but they were resolved. The game of Politics got in the way. Don't blame them for crafting documents that "breathe" with the times, you should read up on them and rejoice that you have them. They are what will save this nation. Not nitpicking a political party or senator or even our President. That's the game the politicians want you to play. The Us vs. Them game. You should be smarter and wiser than them.
